I appreciate all the items that I have received and have already loved using them in my classroom. My students were very excited to open our deliveries as a class. I had them sitting in a pile at the front of the class and was quickly asked what were in the boxes?! I told them that they were donated to our classroom by people that wanted to help them learn. We appreciate everything! \r\n\r\nAs soon we we opened the boxes we have started using the materials in our class. I have created a social emotional bulletin board with the space bulletin paper to go with our class theme at the entrance in my classroom. The students are signing their names on our class projects and themes we are learning about (resiliency, Tie our shoe club, and PBIS school-wide events). We are using the small drawer system to organize our materials and supplies used for the maker station. They will have all their art and writing supplies separated out in order to use them to create their own ideas. The smocks were quickly used when painting crafts for the students to bring home for holiday gifts for their parents. The rulers will be used when learning about length but also in the makers station to draw lines and make books. \r\n\r\nThe students have played the games to have fun while learning. The students used the Pop-It number line to help with adding and subtracting. They learned how to play dominoes and then we did a games rotation to play all the different games in small groups. These games have been available for daily use in math centers and free time. We played Splat as a whole class and created small groups to work together on their math fluency. They had fun and look forward to playing again. \r\n\r\nThank you for your donation. Students enjoyed healthy snacks while engaging in algebra games that reinforced key concepts like linear equations. The card game became a favorite activity—students worked in pairs to match equations with their graphs, cheering each other on as they mastered vocabulary like \"slope,\" \"intercept,\" and \"variable.\" These moments turned math into a fun, social experience that built confidence and teamwork.\r\n\r\nOne memorable day, two students were playing the card game and debating which card represented a positive slope. As they discussed, they used terms like \"rate of change\" and \"y-intercept\" naturally in conversation. The words that once felt intimidating now rolled off their tongues! This hands-on approach helped them internalize vocabulary while applying it to real problems. The algebra tiles you funded also played a huge role in deepening understanding, allowing students to physically model equations and see how variables interact.\r\n\r\nAlgebraic thinking is more than just math, it's problem-solving that applies to real life, from budgeting to engineering. By strengthening these skills now, students are building a foundation for future STEM opportunities. As a next step, I plan to combine snacks and the card game into a \"Math Café\" day, where students rotate through stations solving challenges while enjoying treats.
