These labs were used as student led assignments. I have found that students learn best in a hands on environment. They were given a basic outline and the supplies you funded to create projects about solar energy, renewable energy, forecasting weather, and the water cycle. \r\n\r\nThe students designed and built sail powered cars to determine the advantage of using wind as a power source. It was interesting them debating and problem solving when their cars didn't quite make the mark. They researched design ideas and fixes and were quite successful.\r\n\r\nFor our weather unit, the students set up a weather station outside and monitored it for a month. they were able to identify the type of climate for our area and even predict weather by cloud formation. I think their favorite part was growing their plants. They were planted in jars. The students were quite surprised when they formed clouds in their jars.
