Your generosity provided our students with raised garden beds, nutrient rich soil, gardening tools, gloves, composting materials, and other essential supplies needed to transform an underused outdoor space into a living classroom.\r\n\r\nWhen our materials arrived, our students were immediately curious and excited to see what had been delivered. They did not simply watch from the sidelines. They helped assemble the garden beds, fill them with soil, organize the space, and begin imagining what we could grow. We also introduced the Garden Club through our Earth Day FUNraiser, where 34 students participated in painting reusable garden themed tote bags, exceeding our original goal of 25 students. During summer break, members of our school staff continued to care for the garden and enjoyed watching it develop. When students returned to school and saw the once empty beds filled with growing plants, their excitement was a wonderful reminder of how much this space had already become a part of our school family.\r\n\r\nAs we move through the new school year, our students will continue caring for the garden while using it as an outdoor classroom for lessons in environmental science, horticulture, sustainability, nutrition, and food systems. We are excited to introduce themed garden beds, composting activities, pollinator education, and hands on opportunities for students to observe plants from seed to harvest. Your support has given our students more than garden supplies. It has given them a place to explore, create, take responsibility, and discover new possibilities. Thank you for helping us grow something that has already brought curiosity, collaboration, and joy to our school community and that we hope will continue to impact our students for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1775906839783,"projectUrl":"project/growing-minds-through-our-school-garden/10131210/","projectTitle":"Growing Minds Through Our School Garden","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reeves","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/rootedgarden"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46893","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":687,"numTeachers":45,"percentFrplEligible":92,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":40,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":68.3,"schoolId":46893,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Largo Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Largo Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/pinellas-county-schools/largo-middle-school/46893"}
