We explored animal cells, plant cells, blood cells, insect parts, yeast, bacteria, and so much more. The excitement in the room was incredible, many students had never even looked through a microscope before! \r\n\r\nTheir enthusiasm showed in their lab reports and unit test, which were some of the best I've ever received because they were written with genuine excitement. Watching their faces light up as they peered through the lens was truly magical. It transformed microscopic life into something they could actually see and understand.\r\n\r\nThe microscope with the screen was especially helpful for students with sensitive eyes. The students scanned through slides and made inferences about what they were seeing, prompting us to dive deeper into what we were seeing. This experience was a huge win for my cell unit and student engagement, and I am beyond grateful for this opportunity.\r\n\r\nEven better, two other science classes joined in to take a look! The impact of these microscopes reached far more students than I ever expected. My students are already asking for another microscope day before the school year ends, and I can't wait to make that happen.\r\n\r\nThank you again. I along with my students, am truly grateful!","fullyFundedDate":1733191265803,"projectUrl":"project/whats-the-scope/8624305/","projectTitle":"What’s the Scope?","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Roy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9578824"},{"teacherId":5411086,"projectId":9087503,"letterContent":"Empowering Young Minds: The Impact of the \"PreIt Inspire Young Minds\" Project\r\n\r\nIn education, the most transformative moments often happen when students are given the tools to not only learn but to lead. Thanks to the generosity of DonorsChoose supporters, the \"PreIt Inspire Young Minds\" project has become a catalyst for literacy growth, leadership development, and community engagement at Emerald Cove Middle School.\r\n\r\nCreating a Literacy-Rich Environment\r\n\r\nWith the resources provided through this project, our classroom has been transformed into a space where reading is not just a skill but a passion. Younger students now have access to engaging, age-appropriate materials that inspire curiosity and foster a love for literacy. The impact has been immediate—students are more excited to read, developing stronger comprehension skills and growing in confidence as they explore new stories and ideas.\r\n\r\nDeveloping Leadership Skills Through Mentorship\r\n\r\nBeyond improving literacy, this initiative has empowered our Pre-IT middle school students to become mentors and role models. Through guided reading sessions and peer-led activities, these students have taken an active role in supporting younger learners, reinforcing both academic growth and social-emotional development. By engaging in mentorship, middle schoolers are building essential leadership qualities such as communication, patience, and responsibility—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.\r\n\r\nGiving Back to the Community\r\n\r\nOne of the most inspiring outcomes of this project is its ripple effect on the community. Our middle school students are not just reading partners; they are actively giving back, fostering a culture of service and empathy. By investing in the success of younger students, they are learning the value of contribution and the power of lifting others up. This experience has instilled in them a sense of responsibility that will stay with them throughout their academic and professional journeys.\r\n\r\nThe Lasting Impact\r\n\r\nThe \"PreIt Inspire Young Minds\" project is more than just an educational initiative—it is a movement that nurtures a love for learning while shaping the leaders of tomorrow. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, students are gaining the confidence to read, the courage to lead, and the heart to give back.\r\n\r\nTo our DonorsChoose supporters: Thank you for believing in the power of education. Your generosity has created a lasting impact that will continue to inspire young minds for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1738992415252,"projectUrl":"project/pre-it-students-inspire-young-minds-on/9087503/","projectTitle":"Pre-IT Students: Inspire Young Minds, One Seuss Story at a Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Shuhaiber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp5411086_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1529229542350","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-shuhaiber"},{"teacherId":9715999,"projectId":8718549,"letterContent":"You have made such an impact on my special needs kids I work with. I love seeing the smiles on their faces when the students are enjoying your generous donations. The busy board with lights has been really popular and a great sensory tool for building fine motor skills. Also, we have been making season trees for fall and snowy winter trees by using our fine motor skills to tear/cut construction paper and tissue paper. The sensory tubes add even more of that sensory experience to the activity. The kids have also loved drawing shapes, letters and numbers in the colorful rice. More pictures to come!!!
