Thanks to your generosity, my classroom now has the essentials we need to thrive. The snacks have been a lifesaver. Many of my students arrive at school without breakfast or grow hungry during the long day. Having healthy snacks available means they can refuel and refocus. I'll never forget one student who had trouble concentrating during math practice. After offering him a quick snack, he lit up and said, \"Now I can think better.\" That small moment showed me how meeting basic needs can open the door to learning.\r\n\r\nThe cleaning supplies have given my students pride in taking care of their classroom. They eagerly volunteer to wipe desks, tidy bookshelves, or sanitize shared materials. It's created a sense of responsibility and community, while also helping keep everyone healthy. Then there's the copy paper. It may seem ordinary, but in our classroom, it's gold. I use it every day for practice pages, assessments, and creative projects. Having enough paper has freed me to provide leveled reading passages and differentiated worksheets, meeting each student where they are.\r\n\r\nWhen the supplies first arrived, my students' faces lit up. They were amazed to see a full snack basket and organized shelves. One whispered to me, \"We really have everything now.\" Another asked quietly if they could take a snack home, which reminded me that these essentials don't just impact learning in the classroom but they bring comfort and reassurance far beyond our walls. Right now, we are working on science experiments. Thanks to the paper and supplies you provided, I can ensure each group has the tools they need from start to finish. And as we continue into the year, I know the snacks will fuel focus during long lessons, and the cleaning supplies will help us maintain a safe, welcoming space.","fullyFundedDate":1742823947082,"projectUrl":"project/much-needed-essentials/9175154/","projectTitle":"Much Needed Essentials","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hackshaw","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8439544_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1742034880207","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8439544"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_69674","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":529,"numTeachers":42,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":88,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":39.8,"schoolId":69674,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/palm-beach-county-public-schools/dr-mary-mcleod-bethune-elementary-school/69674"}
