Your generosity has made a tremendous impact on my students, and I am deeply thankful for your belief in their potential. I also want to apologize for the delay in sharing this update, as I was recently hospitalized and needed time to focus on my recovery. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support.\r\n\r\nThe AAC device has significantly improved my students' ability to learn and participate in the classroom. Many of my students are nonverbal or have limited verbal communication skills, and this technology has provided them with a way to express their wants, needs, thoughts, and feelings. As a result, they are more engaged during lessons, better able to interact with peers and adults, and more successful in completing daily classroom activities. The most exciting part for my students is having a voice that others can understand. They love using the device to make choices, answer questions, request help, and participate in classroom discussions, which has increased both their confidence and independence.\r\n\r\nSeveral students have especially embraced this technology. One student who previously became frustrated when unable to communicate now independently uses the AAC device to request assistance and participate in learning activities. Another student has started initiating interactions with peers and adults using the device. We have also seen a decrease in communication-related behaviors as students gain the ability to express themselves effectively. Because the AAC device is readily available throughout our classroom, we can consistently support communication across all settings and activities. Thanks to your generosity, my students are not only finding their voices but also becoming more active, confident, and successful learners. Thank you for helping make this possible. 💙","fullyFundedDate":1769191411743,"projectUrl":"project/ispeak-a-voice-for-every-child/9884622/","projectTitle":"iSpeak: a Voice for Every Child","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Santos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10072495_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754708106493","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/v-santos"},{"teacherId":6385607,"projectId":10163706,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our class was able to bring learning to life through an exciting project that blended science, the Artemis II mission to the moon, and the spirit of Mother's Day. Students were engaged as they explored space concepts while creating meaningful, hands-on projects Every child had the opportunity to design and make something special for their mothers—an experience that filled our room with joy. One of the highlights was working with the Chomp Saw. It sparked incredible curiosity and enthusiasm as students learned new skills. Their excitement has inspired our next project- to design and create ping pong mazes and games using the Chomp Saw. This will continue to build creativity, confidence and a love of learning. My students were so excited to open the boxes when they arrived. They have loved having so many new choices available to them during math and reading centers. \r\n\r\nThey have especially enjoyed hearing stories read to them at the listening center. They have been doing so well with rhyming words after listening to the book \"Sheep in a Jeep\" last week. And it is so nice to have a cd player that works consistently!\r\n\r\nAll of my students have been able to try out various activities with the letter magnatiles and letter beanbags. It is so important to allow young children to learn through play, and that is exactly what these tools have done for us. \r\n\r\nWe also received a lot of stickers and slap bracelets, which I have been using as rewards when students complete extra reading practice at home. They have been so motivated to read to their family members thanks to these rewards. \r\n\r\nDuring math centers my students have been so excited to explore number relationships with the math stackers. This tool has really helped my visual learners to understand the concept of greater than and less than. \r\n\r\nWe are all so thankful for your generosity. Please know that it is making a positive difference in these young learners' lives.","fullyFundedDate":1762115234558,"projectUrl":"project/sensational-centers-for-all/9858538/","projectTitle":"Sensational Centers for All","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Zwerin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8593081_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761437984219","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8593081"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_124230","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":470,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":19,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":53,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":5,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":79.0,"schoolId":124230,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Water Spring Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Water Spring Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/orange-county-public-schools/water-spring-elementary-school/124230"}
