Because of your kindness, my students were able to participate in a meaningful and transformative experience that extended far beyond a typical classroom activity.\r\n My students were very excited to receive their first scrapbooks and supplies because they had never created a scrapbook before. For most, this was their first time working with art supplies to creatively express their stories to share with their babies. Throughout the project, many students discovered new talents, built confidence in their abilities, and experienced the joy that comes from creating something uniquely their own. Others were able to come out of their comfort zones by taking risks in their writing and creative endeavors. It was beyond heartwarming to see their faces light up as they veered away from my suggested ideas to pursue their own.\r\n As students worked on their scrapbooks, they learned that storytelling can take many forms. Through photographs, written reflections, letters, and personal narratives, they documented important moments and people in their lives, creating a personal history for their babies to connect with when they are older. The project gave them a safe space to explore and reflect on their journeys, celebrate their accomplishments, and express their hopes for their and their children's future.\r\n Many students wrote letters, stories, and personal messages that they plan to share with their children for years to come. Through writing, they reflected on lessons they have learned, dreams they have for their families, and the love they wish to pass down to the next generation. These written pieces transformed the scrapbooks into treasured keepsakes and family heirlooms- something that many of them never had.\r\n The project also encouraged social and emotional growth; attendance improved as they had something to look forward to after a day full of academics. They took pride in sharing their work with classmates and staff, showing pride in their work. They offered encouragement to one another and celebrated each other's stories. We witnessed students who are often hesitant to participate become engaged, motivated, and excited to attend class because they were creating something that truly mattered to them.\r\n Your donations did more than provide materials. It provided opportunities for creativity, self-expression, literacy development, and family connection. It gave my students a chance to tell their stories and create lasting memories for themselves and their children.\r\n On behalf of my students and school community, thank you for believing in them and investing in their futures. Your generosity has left a lasting impact that will continue to be felt every time a student opens their scrapbook and shares their story with a loved one.
