My students have been using the new resources: Kwik Stix Tempera Paint - Global Skin Tone Colors, Classpack Set of 72; Kwik Stix Tempera Paint - Thin Stix, Set of 24; and Kwik Stix Tempera Paint Thin Metalix Colors to explore painting, their vision of a \"Dream\" Bird, exploring self-awareness, their dreams, goals, and hopes for their future through self-expression and the incredible colors of Kwik Stix! They absolutely love them!\r\n \r\nKwik Sticks are truly the gift that keeps on giving! They are so much fun to use and make excellent resources to introduce children to the process of painting. Creating a \"Dream\" Bird allowed the students to learn the basics of painting making while at the same time provided an opportunity for them to respond to their life experiences, dreams, and wishes. The project was infused with CASEL's Self-Awareness. It focused on \"establishing safe spaces for expression\" (NAEA Mission and Vision) by allowing the children to paint about their dreams. The process of painting a Dream Bird of their own creation allowed students to learn the basic techniques of painting and color mixing grounded in the Standards, while at the same time, they had an opportunity to respond to their life experiences as expressed by their \"dreams,\" thus establishing safe spaces for expression (NAEA Mission and Vision).
