Your kindness and belief in our classrooms have made a lasting impact on our students' learning experiences, confidence, and overall growth.\r\n\r\nBefore receiving access to IXL, many of our students struggled to get consistent, personalized practice in both math and reading. Because students in our classrooms are working at different grade levels and learning speeds, it can be challenging to meet every individual need at the same time. Thanks to your support, IXL has become a powerful tool that allows each student to work at their own level while still being challenged and supported.\r\n\r\nIn math, students are now strengthening foundational skills such as number sense, multiplication and division, fractions, and problem-solving. IXL provides immediate feedback, which helps students recognize mistakes, learn from them, and try again without fear. This has been especially impactful for students who previously lacked confidence in math. Instead of giving up, they now persist, knowing they can improve with practice. We have seen students become more willing to take risks and challenge themselves, which has led to noticeable academic growth.\r\n\r\nIn reading, IXL has helped students improve comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing skills. Students are able to practice identifying central ideas, making inferences, and understanding complex texts at a pace that works best for them. Many students who once felt overwhelmed by reading assignments are now more engaged and motivated. They enjoy tracking their progress and feel proud when they master a skill.\r\n\r\nOne of the most meaningful changes we have observed is how students talk about their learning. They celebrate each other's achievements, encourage one another, and take ownership of their progress. It has been incredibly rewarding to see students light up when they master a challenging skill or move up to the next level. The differentiation within IXL allows teachers to give students individual smart scores that they work towards but most students ask to progress past their goals because they want to get to 100! These moments may seem small, but they represent growing confidence and a positive mindset toward learning.\r\n\r\nIXL has also allowed us to better support our students as teachers. The data and insights help us understand where students need additional instruction or enrichment, allowing us to plan more effective lessons. Because of this, classroom time is more focused, purposeful, and responsive to student needs.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, your generosity has shown our students that people outside of our classroom care about their education and believe in their potential. Some of our students face challenges beyond the classroom, and knowing that others are willing to invest in their success means more than words can express.\r\n\r\nOn behalf of the students and teachers at Hidden Oaks Elementary, thank you for making this opportunity possible. Your support is helping students build strong math and reading skills, develop confidence, and grow into motivated learners. We are truly grateful for your generosity and the positive impact you have made in our classrooms.","fullyFundedDate":1757536938515,"projectUrl":"project/help-our-hawks-excel-in-math-and-reading/9598247/","projectTitle":"Help Our Hawks Excel in Math and Reading with IXL","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Ruiz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3802557_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755213701625","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/movingwithmrsruiz"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_56146","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":403,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":51,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"11.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.6,"schoolId":56146,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hidden Oaks Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hidden Oaks Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/orange-county-public-schools/hidden-oaks-elementary-school/56146"}
