Your generous donation has made a meaningful difference for my students now have access to high-quality clay and the essential tools needed to explore three-dimensional art. We introduced the materials during a dedicated clay lesson, and the students' excitement was immediate. As soon as they learned the supplies had arrived, they began asking thoughtful questions—such as where clay originates, how the tools are used, and how long the drying process takes. These moments demonstrated their natural curiosity and eagerness to learn, and the new resources allowed us to engage in meaningful discussions about ceramics as an art form.\r\n\r\nStudents are currently using the materials to create their own clay bobbleheads, a project that encourages creativity, fine-motor skills, and problem-solving. They are carefully shaping their sculptures and adding detailed features using the new tools. Once the pieces are completed, we will allow them to dry fully before firing them in the kiln. After the first firing, students will glaze their work, learn about the chemistry of color transformation, and then experience the final firing process. When completed, each student will proudly take home a finished ceramic artwork—an accomplishment made possible entirely through this donation.","fullyFundedDate":1747292828024,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-create-with-clay/9264830/","projectTitle":"Help Us Create with Clay!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Acevedo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7809739_orig.jpg?crop=2735,2735,x0,y702&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745343690799","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7809739"},{"teacherId":2320423,"projectId":9194702,"letterContent":"Today working with students in the classrooms has changed a lot. Our Holiday Reading Extravaganza was a huge hit with all our students and our teachers. The items in the goody bags were appreciated by all our students from VPK to 5th grade.\r\n\r\nThe Holiday Reading Extravaganza was such a hit, I know it will become a new December tradition at our school.\r\n\r\nThis project was also able to do some unexpected things. Some of the original items in our order were not available when it became funded and ready to order. I was able to order some additional items for our community literacy night and I was able to order new filling for our bean bag chairs in the Media Center. The bean bags are VERY popular and were getting quite flat. This was a huge relief to be able to fix.","fullyFundedDate":1733345350659,"projectUrl":"project/holiday-reading-extravaganza/8898064/","projectTitle":"Holiday Reading Extravaganza","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lane","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/346653"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46678","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":557,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":83,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":10,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":81,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.9,"schoolId":46678,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Engelwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Engelwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/orange-county-public-schools/engelwood-elementary-school/46678"}
