The sink-or-float items and LEGO sets you shared with us brought so much excitement and engagement into our classroom. These hands-on experiences allowed students to physically interact with their learning—touching, building, testing, and exploring—which made science both meaningful and fun. Your contributions helped transform our lessons into memorable moments that deepened students' understanding and curiosity.\r\n\r\nYour generosity also had a profound impact on my English Language Learners. These activities provided them with an additional way to demonstrate their knowledge and express their understanding of our science units beyond words. They were especially engaged while working with the LEGOs, eagerly designing and modifying their cars to see what made them faster and stronger.\r\n\r\n I would love to share one student success story in particular—one of my students, who often struggles to express their ideas verbally, truly flourished during our LEGO car experiments. Through building and modifying their car, they eagerly tested different designs, adding pieces to make it stronger and adjusting the wheels to help it move faster. With each trial, they proudly showed their results, using gestures, simple words, and demonstrations to explain how their changes affected motion and speed. It was a powerful moment of confidence and growth, as they were able to clearly communicate their understanding of force and motion through action and creation.\r\n\r\nThrough these creative experiments, students developed a clearer understanding of concepts such as gravity, mass, states of matter, and forces of motion in a way that felt accessible and exciting for second graders.\r\n\r\nWe are truly grateful for the opportunities these materials have given our students. The engaging, hands-on nature of these experiences has not only strengthened their understanding of science but has also fostered a genuine love for learning. Your support has made a lasting difference in our classroom, and we sincerely appreciate your commitment to helping young learners grow and succeed in STEM.","fullyFundedDate":1772168581141,"projectUrl":"project/stem-for-all-languages-and-learning-leve/10119205/","projectTitle":"STEM for All Languages and Learning Levels","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Jauregui","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10172848_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755738036568","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10172848"},{"teacherId":2941194,"projectId":9920012,"letterContent":"When the round activity tables arrived, my students immediately gravitated toward them. Many of my learners struggle with traditional desks or the physical demands of working on the floor, so seeing a space designed for them sparked an excitement that was impossible to miss. One student walked around a table with a huge smile and said, \"We can all fit here!\"—a simple statement that captured just how meaningful this change is. During our first small‑group activity, students who typically avoid peer interaction sat together, shared materials, and communicated more naturally than I've ever seen in our room.\r\nThese tables have already transformed the way we work. Because our class focuses heavily on communication, behavior, and socialization, having a neutral, comfortable space has opened the door for more authentic interactions. Students are practicing turn‑taking, using their communication devices more confidently, and engaging in partner tasks with far less hesitation. The round shape encourages eye contact and collaboration, which is especially powerful for my neurodivergent learners and those with language, learning, or intellectual impairments. The environment now supports the skills we are trying to build, rather than working against them.\r\nOur next steps involve expanding our small‑group lessons to include more structured social communication activities—role‑playing, shared problem‑solving, and cooperative games that help students grow not only academically but as individuals. Thanks to your generosity, my students now have a space that truly supports their needs and honors who they are as learners. Your gift didn't just provide furniture; it created opportunities for connection, confidence, and meaningful growth. We are deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1769177804364,"projectUrl":"project/lets-communicate-and-collaborate/9920012/","projectTitle":"Let’s Communicate and Collaborate!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Day-Scanlon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2941194_orig.jpg?crop=1028,1028,x40,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695420041423","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2941194"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46633","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":472,"numTeachers":44,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":52,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":20,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":12,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":48.9,"schoolId":46633,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kenwood Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kenwood Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/okaloosa-county-school-district/kenwood-elementary-school/46633"}
