The books you donated are now a daily part of our literacy routines and have made a meaningful difference in how my students engage with language, stories, and learning. For many of my students, these books are helping to build not only literacy skills, but also confidence, communication, and a genuine love of reading.\r\nWe use these books every day during our morning read-alouds, small-group instruction, and independent choice time. Many of the books are especially engaging for my students because of their clear visuals, predictable patterns, and relatable themes. One of my favorite moments was watching a student who typically struggles to attend during group activities sit through an entire story, eagerly turning pages and pointing to pictures as we read together. Another student began echoing repeated phrases from the book—an incredible milestone for expressive language development.\r\n\r\nWe've also incorporated the books into hands-on literacy centers, where students match pictures to words, retell stories using visuals, and practice identifying letters and sounds connected to the stories they love.\r\nThe excitement was immediate and genuine. When the books arrived, my students' faces lit up as they explored the covers and illustrations. Several students hugged the books, flipped through pages repeatedly, and eagerly chose favorites right away. For children who often feel overwhelmed or hesitant with new materials, these books felt inviting and safe. Seeing their excitement and curiosity reinforced just how powerful the right resources can be for learners with autism.\r\nNext, we are using these books to deepen comprehension and communication skills. Students are working on identifying characters, sequencing events, and connecting stories to their own experiences using visuals and simple sentence frames. We are also beginning to create individualized \"favorite book\" activities, where students can retell a story using pictures, symbols, or verbal language at their own level.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, my students are developing positive associations with reading—something that will benefit them far beyond kindergarten. Thank you for believing in my students and for giving them the gift of literacy, joy, and opportunity. Your kindness has made a lasting impact in our classroom, and we are so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1764706665303,"projectUrl":"project/a-world-of-wonder/9531066/","projectTitle":"A World of Wonder","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Arrojo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10110268_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754265174118","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10110268"},{"teacherId":7139942,"projectId":9655228,"letterContent":"My class is full of eager students who need just a little bit more attention and teaching strategies.
