Many of our students suffer from anxiety depression, and other mental health issues. It is incredibly important to be able to offer safe spaces for students to vent, share, and feel heard. Your kindness allowed us to create opportunities for our students to be heard and relate to others with similar feelings. Additionally, we were able to provide journals and positive affirmations cards to lift students' spirits. Teaching often involves much more than classroom lectures, but rather practical life lessons. Having additional tablets ensures a more effective and efficient learning environment. Many times, we ask our students to use their phones to conduct research or access online platforms. While it may be convenient for some students, there are assignments that are easier to complete using a tablet or laptop. Additionally, there are always students in class who do not have phones.\r\n\r\nYour generosity helps to ensure no student is left behind. My students were extremely excited to see the new tablets. For the students without a phone, I could see relief spread across their faces once they realized they would be able to use them to access our online platform and not be at a disadvantage. \r\n\r\nPlease know that it takes a village to reach and teach kids. We have used the TI-30xa calculators every day in class. They are learning new key strokes like the positive/negative key and the fraction key. They use the calculators to complete classwork and to check their answers. It was a big relief when I told the class they didn't have to buy their own. \r\nWhile some students are good with integers there are many that are still weak so giving them a tool while learning is just uplifting. I even have two girls who volunteer to pass them out and collect them each day as they know they were purchased for them with this grant. \r\nI also welcomed students to buy them for home use. Only one student was able to do this for themselves. I am allowed to place an electronic version in their portal for home use therefore I have completed that task. \r\nThe calculators are part of our daily routine and how to use them is part of our instruction. Even in 9th grade they do not know how to use them correctly. This year they will be a tool for them as they are intended to be just that. \r\nWe want to thank you for the speed of ordering and the easy process this has been.","fullyFundedDate":1753492701207,"projectUrl":"project/giving-the-students-the-tools-they-need/9398006/","projectTitle":"Giving the Students the Tools They Need Pass the EOC","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Borges","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10050549_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761749506403","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10050549"},{"teacherId":2227865,"projectId":8648864,"letterContent":"I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your generous support of my project, \"Enhancing Education with Technology.\" Your donation provided a vital tool—a new computer—that has transformed the way I plan, deliver, and personalize instruction for my students.\r\n\r\nFrom a teacher's lens, this technology has made an immediate and meaningful impact on both my efficiency and creativity in lesson planning. With access to a faster, more reliable computer, I can now explore a wider range of instructional resources, design engaging multimedia lessons, and integrate digital learning platforms that better meet the diverse needs of my students. This has allowed me to plan more effectively, stay organized, and deliver high-quality, differentiated instruction.\r\n\r\nOne specific way this computer has enhanced my teaching is by enabling the use of interactive programs that support both whole-group instruction and small-group interventions. I've been able to design custom lessons using student performance data and incorporate educational tools that make learning more accessible and engaging—especially for students who benefit from visual and interactive content.\r\n\r\nThe ability to collaborate virtually with colleagues, attend professional development, and access digital curriculum platforms without delays has also elevated my professional growth and, by extension, the experiences I create for my students.\r\n\r\nYour generosity gave me more than a piece of technology—you gave me time, efficiency, and new ways to connect with students. One of the first projects we launched with these materials involved collaborative literacy centers where students rotated through reading, writing, and discussion stations using leveled texts and interactive tools. These activities not only supported differentiated instruction but also allowed students to build confidence and ownership in their learning.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were full of excitement and curiosity. Many of them lit up with joy, asking, \"Is this really for us?\" Watching their faces as they explored the new books, manipulatives, and learning tools was a truly special moment that I will never forget. It reminded me just how important it is for every student to feel seen, supported, and inspired in their learning environment.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are currently working on a cross-curricular project that ties reading comprehension to real-world problem solving. Using the new resources, students are analyzing informational texts and then applying what they've learned to design solutions to community-based challenges. The goal is not just academic growth, but also building critical thinking and collaborative skills that they'll carry forward.\r\n\r\nThanks to you, we've created a classroom environment full of possibility, energy, and discovery.
