They were especially excited to uncover similes, metaphors, and personification throughout the novel—often racing to point out examples and explain how these literary devices helped bring Bud's journey to life. The historical backdrop of the Great Depression also sparked meaningful conversations about resilience, family, and perseverance.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become a lively, collaborative experience. Students read in pairs, annotate their own copies, and eagerly share predictions, reflections, and figurative language discoveries during discussions. Several normally hesitant students have begun participating more confidently. Your support didn't just provide books—it created an engaging, joyful reading experience that sparked curiosity and strengthened critical literacy skills.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. They help minimize distractions so students can concentrate better—especially during reading, language learning, and online lessons. For students who need extra support, headphones allow them to listen to instructions or lessons at their own pace without feeling rushed or self-conscious. They've also been incredibly helpful during assessments or when students are working on different tasks at the same time.\r\n\r\n\r\nOur students love that they can create their own \"quiet zones\" to really get into their work. Many are excited by how immersive it feels—like they have their own private space to learn, even in a busy classroom. For example, during reading time or when using educational apps, they feel more in control and more engaged. Plus, they enjoy using the headphones for creative projects, like recording their voices or listening to audio stories.\r\n\r\nOne student who has trouble focusing in noisy environments now uses the headphones daily and is completing more work than ever before. Another student learning English as a second language uses them to listen to vocabulary and pronunciation guides, and their confidence in speaking has noticeably improved. It's been amazing to watch how something as simple as a pair of headphones can empower students to learn more independently and comfortably.","fullyFundedDate":1748023734129,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-potential-with-the-power-of-t/9290156/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Potential with the Power of Technology","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Nodarse","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8624048_orig.jpg?crop=1290,1290,x0,y288&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1745850902981","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8624048"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_45836","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":759,"numTeachers":68,"percentFrplEligible":40,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":88,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"11.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":82.5,"schoolId":45836,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Kenwood K-8 Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Kenwood K-8 Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/kenwood-k-8-center/45836"}
