The new seating options have completely changed the way my students engage with their work — and with each other.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the excitement was contagious. Students couldn't believe that they would get to choose where and how they learned best. \r\n\r\nSince introducing flexible seating, I've noticed students taking more ownership of their learning. They collaborate more naturally during group projects, focus better during independent work, and show greater respect for the learning environment because it feels like a space they helped create.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make our classroom a place where every student feels comfortable, empowered, and excited to learn every day.","fullyFundedDate":1753452717887,"projectUrl":"project/move-wiggle-focus-a-sensory-friendly/9396826/","projectTitle":"Move, Wiggle, Focus: a Sensory-Friendly Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Aviles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10050161"},{"teacherId":9988291,"projectId":9219517,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous donation of bean bags, dry-erase markers, and Clorox wipes to our classroom! They never thought that people would donate to their classroom so they can have different options for sitting around the classroom. \r\n\r\nThe stools and the wobble cushions have impacted their ability to concentrate while working. The students can rock back and forth on the stool and have something tactile with the cushion. The cushion also makes it much more comfortable when the students work in groups and choose to sit on the floor. These items have also influenced other teachers around the building to try using flexible seating in their classroom and have had parents question if this would help their child at home.","fullyFundedDate":1726682678976,"projectUrl":"project/wiggle-and-wobble/8776567/","projectTitle":"Wiggle and Wobble","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Clifford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp2500186_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1508206730423","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mskclifford"},{"teacherId":9754675,"projectId":8795026,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, the addition of ukuleles and a bass guitar has brought new life to our music classroom at Whigham Elementary! My students were ecstatic when they first saw the instruments—many had never held or played one before. Their excitement was palpable as they eagerly explored the sounds and possibilities these instruments provided. \r\n\r\nWe've been using the ukuleles and bass guitar in a variety of ways, from learning basic chords and rhythms to accompanying their singing during class performances. One memorable moment came during our \"Music Around the World\" project, where students played traditional Hawaiian songs on the ukuleles while another student held down the rhythm on the bass guitar. Their smiles and pride in creating music together were unforgettable! \r\n\r\nThese instruments have not only enhanced their musical skills but also boosted their confidence and teamwork. Students are learning to listen to each other, keep steady rhythms, and collaborate in small groups to compose their own songs. It's been amazing to watch them grow as musicians and as individuals. \r\n\r\nNext, we're diving into creating a classroom ensemble where students will rotate roles—some on ukuleles, others on percussion, and one on the bass guitar. This will help them explore how instruments work together to create harmony and rhythm. The skills they are gaining will stay with them for years to come, fostering a deeper appreciation for music and the joy of creative expression. \r\n\r\nThank you for making such a profound difference in the lives of my students!","fullyFundedDate":1726773157468,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-music/8795026/","projectTitle":"Hands on Music","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Fraticelli","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9754675_orig.jpg?crop=768,768,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1736354576616","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9754675"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64110","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":731,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":77,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":64110,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Dr Edward Whigham Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Dr Edward Whigham Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/miami-dade-county-public-schools/dr-edward-whigham-elementary-school/64110"}
