My students' faces lit up with excitement when I first introduced \"Caleb\", the cow (for letter Cc). Instead of our usual rote routine for learning letters/sounds, we now talk to them, sing with them, and act them out. Each week, a special \"Letter Friend\" joins our circle time. Students take turns holding the puppet, practicing it's name and sound, and thinking of words that begin with that letter. Even my quieter students and those with speech delays are more eager to participate when a puppet is involved.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments was during a small group activity when a student who rarely volunteers reached for the letter puppet and proudly made its sound independently. The puppets have become powerful tools for engagement, language development, and confidence-building. We are also using them in our literacy centers, dramatic play, and even during transitions to reinforce letter recognition and phonemic awareness in a fun, meaningful way.\r\n\r\nNext, we will begin using the puppets to build simple CVC words and create short class stories where each letter puppet plays a character role. Your support has made literacy interactive, inclusive, and joyful for my PreK learners.
