Students crowded around, eager to peek at the glowing lights and bubbling water. Several asked right away, \"When can we start planting?\" and one proudly announced, \"We're real scientists now!\"\r\n\r\nSo far, we've been growing basil, cilantro, rosemary, and dill, and the system has turned into a daily stop for curious eyes. Students love checking on the pods, noting changes in their observation journals, and comparing how fast each herb is sprouting. Even those who are usually hesitant to write have been motivated to capture their discoveries and sketch the roots and leaves they see.\r\n\r\nThis project has naturally woven into our science curriculum with making observations. The next step is to harvest our herbs and use them in a simple class recipe, helping students see the full cycle from seed to table.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, my students aren't just learning about plants from a book, they're experiencing the wonder of growth firsthand, sparking curiosity and building connections that will last far beyond this project.","fullyFundedDate":1746729287191,"projectUrl":"project/green-thumbs-up-hydroponic-learning/9316308/","projectTitle":"Green Thumbs Up: Hydroponic Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Valencia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10005837_orig.jpg?crop=1170,1170,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746582519167","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10005837"},{"teacherId":9640696,"projectId":8988605,"letterContent":"The girls throughly enjoyed having the opportunity to work through lessons that shaped them and stretched them. The highlight of the season was the GOTR 5k where the girls, for most, was their first time running 3.1 miles at a local park with other GOTR teams and received a medal at the end! They had a community impact project where they were able to make Christmas cards, painted stones, bracelets, and snowflake ornaments for a military branch. They put the basket together and the military unit came to visit and receive it! The soldiers shared how they have to be brave when things are tough, just like the girls have to today also. The girls wanted to show their appreciation to the soldiers and all they do for our freedom.","fullyFundedDate":1733865678001,"projectUrl":"project/running-with-confidence/8988605/","projectTitle":"Running with Confidence","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Padgett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9640696_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723231425717","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9640696"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46343","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":510,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":52,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":31,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":28,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"14.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.8,"schoolId":46343,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lincoln Magnet School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lincoln Magnet School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/hillsborough-county-public-school-district/lincoln-magnet-school/46343"}
