We went from practicing on our laps and the risers, to rehearsing on tables, to performing on a fully functional set-up that coordinated beautifully with our school gymnasium at our first concert! \r\n\r\nWe all learned so much since we began this journey together. I wasn't even sure if we could pull off a chimes ensemble. The students and I had no equipment and no knowledge or skills in this craft. But with our hard work to learn the ropes and your generous support, we now have the skills and supplies we need to get started, and we can use these items for years to come! \r\n\r\nThis endeavor has added such a unique element to our music program at Collins. After our performance in December, I heard so many nice comments from audience members. Some came up reminiscing about to when they played chimes in the childhood. It's something that I didn't even know was missing from our program. But I believe that now it is here to stay! I have had parents come up asking how their child can be involved with the chimes. We recently had six members of our ensemble audition for All-County handbells and two got accepted! Who knows where this new skill/talent/interest will take all of these children in their lifetimes. When we are organized, we can spend more time learning. The snacks have been great rewards for all of their hard work as well as for students who are hungry and didn't get breakfast. I am so excited to have this program back to use in the classroom with my students. It is a great supplement to their learning.\r\nThis program keeps them engaged in what I am teaching in class. It presents the information in a different way and allows another outlet for learning for all students. They love Moby and Annie (the characters in Brainpop) and the hooks that they use to promote learning.\r\nI love the follow up activities in this program; it gives me a way to assess their learning through the quizzes and they love the jokes & supplemental activities.
