This year's faculty book study initiative, made possible through the purchase of professional learning texts, has provided our teachers with meaningful opportunities to engage in reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement.\r\n\r\nThrough these shared readings, our faculty have explored new strategies to enhance student engagement, promote equity, and foster a culture of belonging in every classroom. The discussions sparked by these books have deepened our collective understanding of effective teaching practices and strengthened our commitment to ensuring that every student feels seen, supported, and capable of success.\r\n\r\nThe investment in these resources has not only elevated instructional practice but has also strengthened the sense of community among our staff. Teachers have reported feeling reenergized, inspired, and more connected to the school's mission and to one another.\r\n\r\nThank you for supporting the professional development of Brandon High School's educators. The impact of this book study will extend far beyond our classrooms—shaping not only the minds of our teachers, but also the futures of the students we serve.\r\n\r\nTogether, we're building a culture of lifelong learning—one chapter at a time.","fullyFundedDate":1748276771708,"projectUrl":"project/street-data-a-different-lens-to-support/9232683/","projectTitle":"Street Data: A Different Lens to Support Students","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Leto","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5526233_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663117230599","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5526233"},{"teacherId":9624601,"projectId":9190858,"letterContent":"The banding wheels are really a great addition to our tool supplies. They are very sturdy, a good size and best of all, easy to wipe down. Now that we are in week 5 of the school year projects are really taking shape. The best comment came from Damien, one of my ceramics 2 students. The glazes, underglazes, and brushes have made it possible for students to complete various projects such as slab houses, coil vases, Greek inspired amphorae, and optional personal projects. With 190 students on my roster, this comes out to about 450 projects being worked on in this semester alone. \r\nIn addition to having needed supplies on hand, I have truly enjoyed seeing students reactions when they first see their glaze fired pieces come out of the kiln. \"It looks so different!\" and \"Ms. Land, I love it!\" are common reactions. Integrating board games focused on these topics into high school education has shown to be a transformative approach to developing these essential skills in students.\r\n\r\nFirst and foremost, financial literacy and Entrepreneurship board games provide students with a hands-on, interactive way to learn about budgeting, saving, investing, debt management, critial thinking and the implications of their decisions. Through the simulation of real-world situations, students experience the direct impact of their choices in a risk-free environment. This experiential learning enhances understanding and retention, enabling students to internalize financial concepts more effectively than through traditional methods.\r\n\r\nThe students are excited to have these games in the classroom to have a break from the regular curriculum, but continue learning in a fun way.","fullyFundedDate":1726654627656,"projectUrl":"project/financial-literacy-can-be-fun/8788353/","projectTitle":"Financial Literacy Can Be Fun","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stafford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp785736_orig.jpg?crop=576,576,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1552567865641","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dawnelle-stafford"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46298","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1835,"numTeachers":111,"percentFrplEligible":58,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":23,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":42,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"16.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.1,"schoolId":46298,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Brandon Senior High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Brandon Senior High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/hillsborough-county-public-school-district/brandon-senior-high-school/46298"}
