Your support in providing the dry erase markers and erasers, clocks, pattern blocks, magnetic and manipulative base ten blocks, magnetic place value set, fraction circles and tiles sets, number bonds and the many other supplies. My students were able to improve their skills with identifying place value positions and the values of each position, as well as, using place value for addition, subtraction, and regrouping. They especially loved telling time to the hour and minute, finding the beginning or ending time using the elapsed time, and found it easier to find the elapsed time when given the beginning and ending time. The automatic movement of the hour hand when moving the minute hand made it easier to understand that both hands are constantly moving and how to identify which hour to use when the hour hand is close to the number. The pattern blocks helped them more easily identify parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines and other attributes of shapes such as right angles, and determining if the lengths of the sides are the same or different. They also used them to create new shapes, which was especially helpful in finding the area of composite figures. The fraction tiles and circles sets were helpful in improving their understanding of equivalent fractions and in comparing fractions because they could physically move the pieces and create a better visual. This allowed them to self reflect and adjust their thinking as they tried using different fractions or different combinations of fractions, which introduced them to the future skill of adding fractions with the same and different denominators. They enjoyed the number bonds as well. They helped improve and reinforce basic addition and subtraction skills, which are still needed in solving more complex problems, especially in multi-step word problems where more than one operation may be needed. Every time I took out a new material, their faces lit up with excitement! I could see the learning and academic growth happening in real time and those skills transferred to paper and computer based practice. They made a connection between what they had been learning and lessons they had been seeing in their individualized iReady lessons on their laptops. It was so exciting to see them excel individually and in small groups. The laminator and laminating sheets were greatly appreciated as well. This allowed them to have practice sheets they could write on with the dry erase markers and the best part is that they can be used over and over again. Those items also allowed me to preserve things that are displayed in the class room that we use every year throughout the year such as vocabulary words, anchor charts, and key words that help students identify if they should add, subtract, multiply or divide within word problems. I truly appreciate you finding it in your hearts to donate to my classroom. The impact is deeply felt and will be carried with them for many years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1764604673736,"projectUrl":"project/motivational-math/9571891/","projectTitle":"Motivational Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gardiner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8120970_orig.jpg?crop=1836,1836,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1754858083112","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8120970"},{"teacherId":3221617,"projectId":9314226,"letterContent":"Thank you!
