Every grade level has been able to paint (butterflies for Prek, Kinder and 1st and flowers of different kinds for 2nd through 5th) 2 of the grade levels are still working hard on their piece. \r\nPreK through 1st learned about symmetry and about the different kinds of butterflies. Second learned about Monet and made beautiful waterlily art work. Third grade is working on jungle backgrounds with flowers and tigers based on the artwork of Henri Rousseau. Fourth grade learned about Georgia O'Keefe and her gentle colors. Fifth grade is printmaking a background to add cherry blossoms next week. \r\n\r\nWe have enjoyed makign different flwers and putting together a garden woth the waterlillies. We did a bonus project by making geodes with paint and colored sand and glitter.\r\nWe even have paint to start the year next year. Each student was able to take a book during the 3 month practice and read independently. Students worked weekly after school to meet to prepare for the Battle of the Books and during lunches. We talked about different vocabulary words that came up and concepts that help make our students grow as readers and individuals. The overall goal was met to encourage students to love reading for life! \r\n\r\nNow that the battle is over classroom libraries in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will house 2 of each of the 4 books of the 19 sets purchased. 2 books will remain in the library for years to come to serve Ensley students. I am so grateful for the books and because we had the books to prepare we could participae in this event at the district level. Fifth grade got to the final round so each year we are getting closer to placing. These books are great reads for any students to pick up. This was the first time in years that clay has been taught at my school. \r\n Many of my students have never used clay before. The excitement they felt when needing the clay was very cool to watch. The pride in their faces as they painted and I wrapped them was absolutely delightful. Some of them really had an inate understanding of how clay could work together and how to problem solve putting pieces together. \r\nAs with trying new things some students struggled, but once I started going around to tables and working with small groups they really took off. \r\n Not only did it help inspire my students, but it gives me encouragement to try for more 3D projects for next year. \r\n Again thank you so much for your generosity and kindness with helping our art program at Ensley Elementary School.","fullyFundedDate":1739376309136,"projectUrl":"project/building-skills-with-our-hands/9063520/","projectTitle":"Building Skills With Our Hands!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Carruth","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9896217"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_46199","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":476,"numTeachers":36,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":37,"percentWhite":17,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.6,"schoolId":46199,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Ensley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Ensley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/escambia-county-school-district/ensley-elementary-school/46199"}
