These books have done more than just fill our shelves—they've opened doors to new worlds, sparked meaningful discussions, and deepened our students' understanding of essential reading skills.\r\n\r\n In every grade, teachers are using these texts to introduce and reinforce foundational literacy skills. In Kindergarten and 1st grade, students are building phonemic awareness and learning to decode words, while also beginning to explore story elements like characters and settings. In the upper grades, students are engaging with texts that challenge them to infer meaning, analyze themes, and compare points of view. These books are not just stories—they are tools helping our students become critical thinkers and confident readers.\r\n\r\n In our classrooms, reading is an interactive experience. Students read aloud, share books in small groups, and participate in guided reading sessions where they ask questions, make predictions, and connect the stories to their own lives. Thanks to your support, students are able to choose from a variety of books that are just right for their reading level and interests—building both skill and motivation.\r\n\r\n Some students who were once reluctant readers are now eager to spend time with the new books. One 2nd grader who previously struggled with reading comprehension now races to our classroom library to check out books with animal characters—she says the stories \"make her feel like she's inside the book.\" In 4th grade, a student with learning challenges has found confidence reading graphic novels from the donation and is now participating more actively in discussions.\r\n\r\n Your contribution has truly made a difference. You've helped us create an environment where every child can see themselves as a reader and experience the joy of discovering new ideas through books. From all of us at San Jose Primary—thank you for investing in our students' growth and imagination.\r\n\r\nWarm regards,\r\nYalitza Santos\r\nDean of Curriculum, San Jose Primary School","fullyFundedDate":1675889237436,"projectUrl":"project/learning-to-read/6894797/","projectTitle":"Learning to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Santos","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5639927"},{"teacherId":6531945,"projectId":8912063,"letterContent":"I cannot properly describe the impact that the decodables made with my ELL students because words cannot describe it. \r\nAll year we worked on word families, vocabulary, sight words, word patterns etc, and when they picked up the books and recognized so many words they were so encouraged and wanted to read the book. Having a full class set makes it easy for every student to be able to access our online resources without disturbing their neighbor.\r\nThe new keyboard works beautifully with my promethean.
