As a School Psychologist, the treasure box rewards, therapeutic animal hand puppets, sensory fidgets, weighted sensory dog and butterfly, and other sensory items and decorations have helped create a warm and welcoming space where students feel comfortable, supported, and excited to participate. An unexpected joy has been seeing both students and staff enjoy these resources, especially the weighted sensory puppy, which brings a sense of calm and comfort to everyone who visits.\r\n\r\nAs the school year continues, I hope students will engage with these resources to feel relaxed in my room when working with me, feel emotionally safe, and feel supported while strengthening their self-regulation, coping, and social skills. The sensory supports have been incredibly well received by students and staff alike, and it has been wonderful to see how naturally they are incorporated into interactions. The materials have helped bridge language gaps by making abstract concepts more concrete and accessible for students at varying levels of English proficiency.\r\n\r\nAs a result of these resources, my ELL students have shown increased confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for learning. Students who previously struggled with phonemic awareness and expressive language are now more willing to attempt reading, participate in small-group discussions, and take academic risks.
