As someone with a government and military background, I understand the importance of setting goals, overcoming challenges, and celebrating success. Seeing students proudly display a framed certificate of their achievement made it clear that even small gestures can have a big impact. Parents shared with me how their children's first action at home was to frame their certificate—a simple step that created lasting pride and motivation.\r\n\r\nSince earning these certificates, students have continued to build on their skills through the Ignition Program by EverFi, covering cybersecurity and online safety, as well as entrepreneurship and marketing for grades 7–10—despite nearly 90% of our students being in 6th grade. All modules are competency-based, allowing students to progress at their own pace while mastering critical skills for the future.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, we introduced practical financial simulations in class using \"Gator Bucks,\" where students practiced managing a class economy—earning income, paying rent, and taking on class jobs. Next year, we hope to expand this program with the 3-envelope challenge, teaching students to allocate money toward tithing/charity, investments, and expenses. Your support has not only celebrated student achievement but also provided a foundation for ongoing financial literacy and life skills that will benefit them for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1764961122794,"projectUrl":"project/recognizing-students-financial-entrep/9859577/","projectTitle":"Recognizing Students’ Financial & Entrepreneurial Growth","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Daniels","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10332988"},{"teacherId":9437643,"projectId":9907895,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, my students now have the tools they need to fully engage in digital learning. In today's classroom, technology is not just a bonus—it is a daily part of instruction. We use interactive videos, virtual field trips, digital maps, and online assessments that allow students to explore places and concepts far beyond our walls. The headphones you helped provide ensure that every student can clearly hear instruction, focus without distractions, and participate independently. This allows learning to be more personalized, engaging, and effective.\r\n\r\nWhat excites my students most is how immersive their learning has become. When we \"travel\" to ancient civilizations or explore faraway regions of the world, they can now hear every detail—the sounds of bustling cities, expert explanations, and cultural music—without competing noise from around the room. Many students have shared that it feels like they are truly inside the lesson instead of just watching it. That sense of immersion has increased their focus and curiosity.\r\n\r\nI have especially seen growth in students who are easily distracted or who need extra support with comprehension. With clear audio and fewer interruptions, they are more confident working independently and completing online assignments. Students who once struggled to stay engaged during videos are now attentive and asking thoughtful questions. Your support has created a calmer, more focused learning environment where every student has equal access to success. In Civics, they learn a little about The Cuban Missile Crisis, but the Civics curriculum covers a great deal of content so there is not time for a deeper understanding of why the United States was so opposed to the spread of communism. Since you were so generous in providing a class set of George Orwell's book, Animal Farm, my students were able to gain a much deeper understanding of why communism is bound fail.\r\nMy students worked in literature circles to read the novel. They engaged in lively discussion about all the characters, but specifically about the pigs greedily changing the laws in their favor and the inevitable demise of the system they declared would make everyone equal. While the book is short, my students finished at an even quicker pace than I expected because of how engaged they were with the plot. At the beginning of a new week students would check FOCUS (our grading program) to see if they qualified for the sports equipment drawing. If students didn't have any Missing assignments, they added their name to their bucket for the end of quarter drawing.\r\nThe day of the drawing is full of excitement, the less Missing assignments a student has the better his or her chance to win a piece of equipment increases. Classmates are excited for one another, cheering and clapping for the winners! It's been a great way to wrap up quarters 1 and 2 this year.\r\nI've witnessed more students working harder during class time, and even taking assignments home, just to be able to get their name in the drawing each week. Through this project I've been teaching children that there are no shortcuts to success, and hard work pays off. They have been seeing this firsthand, and they are noticing that gratification doesn't always come quickly. The hands on, interactive nature of the games created an energetic learning atmosphere where students were excited to participate and eager to take their turns. Many students expressed how much they enjoyed working with their peers, celebrating each other's successes, and challenging themselves to improve with every round. The games transformed what can sometimes feel like routine practice into a fun, lively experience that kept students motivated and focused. They also strengthened their teamwork skills as they collaborated, encouraged one another, and worked together toward shared goals.\r\nBeyond the excitement, these board games provided meaningful opportunities for students to strengthen their multiplication fluency in an enjoyable and low pressure way. As they played, students practiced recalling facts quickly, applying strategies, and reinforcing patterns—all essential skills for building confidence in multiplication. Because the practice was embedded in play, students were more willing to take risks, think critically, and persevere through challenging problems. We plan to continue adding board games during our small group instruction to strengthen their skills.","fullyFundedDate":1757022821990,"projectUrl":"project/learning-multiplication-facts-through-bo/9667179/","projectTitle":"Learning Multiplication Facts Through Board Games","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Chavez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp4928425_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1512311739387","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4928425"},{"teacherId":10167178,"projectId":9571379,"letterContent":"My students and I are so grateful for the supplies!
