Due to your help, our students have been able to work on independent work in their center rotations throughout the week. In math, they are using task boxes to complete independent practices on pre-taught math standards, to help improve their math fluency. In the reading nook, they are working on silent reading or read aloud for partner reading. In the Writing center, they practice everything from tracing to answering \"WH\" questions. And lastly, in the Word Builder Center they work on their Foundational pre-taught skills to improve their reading. Because this is all been modeled for them, they are able to complete tasks to the best of their abilities and improve with every opportunity. We would also like to thank you for our Chromebook charging station. It makes us feel better to have them all located in one central area, than in outlets all over the room. Because you have given us these opportunities, my students are learning to be more indepentant and it provides opportunities for me to work with other students that need more interventions in other areas.You have blessed our class and we appreciate it very much","fullyFundedDate":1748756782049,"projectUrl":"project/independence-and-individualism-through-c/9329387/","projectTitle":"Independence and Individualism Through Centers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Callaway","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9093791_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1690666829512","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9093791"},{"teacherId":4928234,"projectId":8645989,"letterContent":"My students love opening the boxes of new materials as they arrive. Each week as we studied a body system, the students were able to participate in the VR experience. It made it so real for the students. Even the kids that said they were grossed out still couldn't wait to do it again the following week!\r\n\r\nAfter studying the human body systems, the students participated in an owl pellet dissection to compare what they had learned about human systems with that of the owl prey. My students are making their way through the introductory lessons and learning how to use and learn with a microscope. So far, our favorite things to view have been shrimp eggs and the scales on a butterfly wing. When they first saw the microscopes, all they could say was \"wow!\" One student said they \"didn't think we'd be able to do this\" and they were eager to get started. Many students were so excited and surprised to see them because they really bring science into our STEM classroom. Yet another student has been completely in awe of using the microscopes since the first time he used them in my classroom and it's become his favorite activity - he's always so excited to show me what he sees and how the different magnifications change the image. We're so excited to keep moving forward with our learning and eventually look at our own germs, in addition to plant and animal cells! \r\n\r\nWe haven't gotten to complete the elephant toothpaste lab yet, as I'm hoping to do it right before Christmas break but the students are so eager for the lab. They're excited and already planning to \"dress appropriately\" so they can get messy, have fun, and learn about chemical reactions. They're all asking me for the recipe so they can make it at home too! It's so nice to see them willing to try and willing to make mistakes in order to learn! \r\n\r\nFinally, I've been getting the students excited for the iodine clock kit. I tried to keep the reaction a surprise because I wanted to them to be completely taken away. However, I finally gave in and showed them the iodine clock reaction. My students don't believe me that it's real and they think all of the videos are edited. Safe to say, they are very excited to try it on their own so they can see the ink-like reaction take place with their own eyes. \r\n\r\nI can't thank you all enough for making this happen in my classroom. My students are coming to Resource thrilled and ready to learn, and it's because of your generosity. You have put learning at their fingertips and we are forever grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1726003263814,"projectUrl":"project/grants-for-great-ideas-stem-labs-for-un/8678084/","projectTitle":"Grants for Great Ideas (STEM Labs for Understanding Chemical Reactions)","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Crawford","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9690334_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1737335265005","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9690334"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_95773","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":695,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":53,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":77,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":10,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"14.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.7,"schoolId":95773,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Shadowlawn Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Shadowlawn Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/clay-county-school-district/shadowlawn-elementary-school/95773"}
