The rug has created a comfortable space for whole-group lessons, read-alouds, and class discussions, while the counters have made our math lessons much more hands-on. My students love using the counters to practice counting, addition, subtraction, and making numbers in different ways. The dry-erase boards have also been a favorite because students can show their thinking and practice writing without worrying about making mistakes.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were excited to see new things in our classroom that were just for them. They especially loved having a new space to sit together and learn. The shelf has also helped us keep our learning materials organized and easily accessible so students can independently choose and put away the resources they need.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue using these materials during our math centers and small-group lessons. As we begin solving more real-world problems, my kindergarteners will use the counters and dry-erase boards to model their thinking, explain their answers, and work together.
