Your generous donation gave our 7th grade science students the opportunity to learn about density in a fun, hands-on way. Students measured the mass and volume of Snickers, Milky Way, and 3 Musketeers candy bars and used their measurements to calculate the density of each candy bar. They then used evidence from their calculations to predict which candy bars would float and which would sink in water. Since the density of water is 1 g/cm³, students had to think like scientists and compare their results to this value. This activity made an abstract science concept much more meaningful because students could physically measure, calculate, predict, and test their ideas. The excitement in the classroom was wonderful as students discovered whether their predictions were correct! Thank you for helping make science engaging, memorable, and delicious while giving our students the opportunity to practice real scientific thinking.","fullyFundedDate":1788703232226,"projectUrl":"project/measuring-the-density-of-candy-bars/10504947/","projectTitle":"Measuring the Density of Candy Bars","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bremner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1419572_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1457200745261","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1419572"},{"teacherId":1419572,"projectId":10415182,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating the Swedish Fish, M&M's, and Gummy Bears for our Law of Conservation of Mass lab!
