It means so much to us that you're interested in how technology is enhancing our students' learning journey in the Financial Literacy unit. \r\n\r\nThe technology my students utilized during the Financial Literacy unit allowed them to engage in interactive simulations via Everfi, which provided a controlled environment that simulated investment decisions. We were able to add to this project a partnership with EverFi. They provided not only a learning course for financial literacy but, a guest speaker as well. \r\n\r\nThe technology allowed us to tailor the learning experience to fit individual student needs. Students were able receive immediate feedback on their progress and experience the opportunity for self-correction and reteach if needed. \r\n\r\nMy students enjoy using the technology but even more so, they enjoy playing the financial games that involve earning and spending money, purchasing items at our Mock ReadMart store, and one of my most important highlighted skills- GIVING CHANGE! In great anticipation, we kicked off this unit with the launch of our Scholastic Book Fair. During the book fair, students earned Book Bucks for participating in games and events. In my goings about, I was able to secure shopping baskets to help this unit along. I was surprised when students casually grabbed a basket to shop for books. I know this unit ignited a spark that I pray grows like wildfire, consuming their quest for future financial stability.","fullyFundedDate":1736948549351,"projectUrl":"project/planting-the-seeds-of-success-empowerin/9047977/","projectTitle":"Planting the Seeds of Success: Empowering Young Entrepreneurs","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McKnight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2584667_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1644414938894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2584667"},{"teacherId":2584667,"projectId":9005671,"letterContent":"Thank you for sharing your love of reading. The new resources, including genre-specific books, digital tools, and creative kits, are integral to our \"special ops assignments.\" For example, during our adventure unit, students participated in \"Operation Expedition,\" where they used adventure novels and map-making tools to navigate fictional terrains. The library was transformed with camouflage netting, map displays, and \"mission briefings\" that detailed group tasks. Each team had to analyze the provided texts, create their own maps, and present their \"expedition routes,\" enhancing their comprehension and collaborative skills in a dynamic, themed environment. The military decor and themed tasks truly ignited a sense of purpose and excitement in their learning.\r\n\r\nThe students' initial reaction to the materials and the military-themed setup was one of pure astonishment and enthusiastic participation. The transformation of the library into a \"command center,\" complete with themed decor and \"mission directives,\" instantly captured their attention. The tactile nature of the map-making tools, combined with the allure of adventure novels, sparked a sense of adventure and intrigue. As a follow-up to \"Operation Expedition,\" we're now moving into a historical fiction unit, \"Operation Time Travel.\" Students are using historical fiction texts and research tools to learn about specific historical periods, and then creating \"mission reports\" detailing their fictional \"time travel assignments.\" We'll culminate this unit with a \"Historical Intelligence Briefing\" where students will present their reports, complete with period-appropriate costumes and artifacts, further developing their research, writing, and presentation abilities.","fullyFundedDate":1733277716456,"projectUrl":"project/operation-jumpstart/8479360/","projectTitle":"Operation Jumpstart","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McKnight","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2584667_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1644414938894","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/2584667"},{"teacherId":8337415,"projectId":9012208,"letterContent":"When I thought of this project, my goal was for students to cultivate knowledge and understanding through the exploration of different topics. Students achieved more than that. They were able to look at these books to see the different historical figures that shaped our history and to apply what they learned through writing. As I stated before, black history is essential in the lives of our children because this is part of the world's history. \r\n\r\nA Journey through Black Excellence has taught them that they are important, they can make their own impact in this world, and change it for the good, and it showed that they are loved regardless of the color of their skin, their background, or their socio-economic status. The lesson that I taught were for them to create thinking maps to apply their knowledge. They also created hands as I taught them that different hands shaped the world as we know it. In these hands, they wrote about a person/book and depicted 5 things they learned from it. They also created hearts, where they stated at least one thing they loved about themselves.\r\n\r\nIn my classroom, reading is fundamental. It is everywhere!! When they read, they immerse themselves in the story and I allow them to bring it to life through writing. Students enjoy reading in my classroom because there is always a new book/story/magazine to read. This project truly blessed the minds and the hearts of the students.\r\n\r\nAll my students enjoyed the books! They loved the activities that went along with the books. Some of them just enjoyed reading the books for fun, as they got to read stories about people who contributed to making this world the way it is. They enjoyed learning about the civil rights movement, the men and women who made an impact in black history, and even the kids like them who invented something that we use today! The students held the self-love books dear to them because it was relatable to who they are. From Black Boy Magic to Curls to I Absolutely, Positively Love My Spots to I am Enough and many more. Students enjoyed reading about the differences in these children and how it makes them unique.\r\n\r\nI truly appreciate the donors and the time they took to donate to this project!
