The rug and bean bag chairs created a comfortable space where students can safely regulate their emotions and return to learning when they are ready. Many of my students benefit from structured sensory breaks, and having this dedicated space allows them to practice calming strategies independently. The arts and crafts supplies have also been integrated into both creative expression and science lessons, allowing students to explore concepts through hands-on activities such as building simple models, experimenting with materials, and creating visual projects related to our science topics.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their excitement was immediate. Several students gravitated toward the calming corner right away, carefully testing out the bean bags and enjoying the soft rug. Others were eager to dive into the art supplies, asking what we would be creating first. It was wonderful to see them feel a sense of ownership over the space and materials. The calming corner has already helped students successfully de-escalate and rejoin classroom activities more quickly, while the creative materials have increased engagement during lessons.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, we will continue using these resources to support both social-emotional learning and hands-on exploration. Students will use the arts and crafts materials during upcoming science lessons to create models and visual representations of what they are learning. The calming corner will remain a consistent support tool where students can practice self-regulation skills and build independence. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, my students now have a classroom environment that better supports their emotional needs while also encouraging curiosity, creativity, and meaningful learning experiences.","fullyFundedDate":1766596730557,"projectUrl":"project/learn-in-comfort/9971481/","projectTitle":"Learn in Comfort!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hildebrand","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10391568"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_75310","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":417,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":36,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":46,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"8.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.7,"schoolId":75310,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Coral Cove Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Coral Cove Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/florida/broward-county-public-schools/coral-cove-elementary-school/75310"}
