They were really fascinated with the fact they looked like glue sticks and I love the fact that their building on their fine motor skills. \r\n\r\nThe children love to also get the laminating sheets as well and run their art through the laminating machine. (With help of course) Parents are so excited to have these pictures to keep as memories. If I have to say what is one Art activities that the is the most popular in our classroom, I would definitely have to say Tempera Art Stick. The smiles are endless when they get them out! My students have used them to help them tell the story of some of our favorite fairy tales. Students have used the materials to build objects that are featured in the story's. The kits contains different sizes and different materials that allows the students to try our different ways to build story related objects and see which materials work best to get desired out comes.\r\n \r\nWhen the kits were pull out for the students to use their eyes lit up. The students always love engaging with new materials. The student engaged with the kits for entire center time without becoming board and seeking other materials. A few of the students even requested to use the kits again during the next center time the next day.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom right now we are gearing up for the holiday season. We will be learning about different ways people celebrate the holidays. We will also be starting to practice and get ready for our young athlete program. The children are eager to get to the writing station to practice their letters, names and numbers on the white board. They are developing fine motors skills through drawing and writing. \r\nThe glue sticks are allowing the children to be very creative on their own with less mess. Glue sticks promote fine motor skill development and allows them to be independent. It also helping with their hand-eye coordination and the small muscles in their fingers when they they have to pull the cap off and twist the glue stick up and down to raise and lower the glue. \r\nThe playdough table is one of the most popular centers in our room and the children were extra excited to see that donation box arrive. They have been using rolling pins and cookie cutters to be very creative and alphabet and numbers mats for small group. The children are able to draw and create using their imaginations during an unstructured time.
