Students were eager to look through everything and couldn't wait to start playing. There was a buzz of energy and curiosity as they discovered new games and activities. Even students who sometimes struggle during less structured time quickly found something they enjoyed, which made indoor recess more positive and inclusive for everyone.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these resources will continue to support students' social growth and independence. They are learning how to make choices, share, problem-solve, and include others—all through play. This city-wide event challenges students to envision and build miniature urban environments, and thanks to your help, my 4th and 5th graders are building with more precision and focus than ever before. Our project, titled \"Divers.City Univers.City,\" is a visionary model of an \"All-Grades\" school—spanning from Pre-K all the way through College.\r\n\r\nThe impact on student engagement has been profound. I have watched students who typically struggle with focus become completely immersed in the work. One student with ADHD was fully engaged without a single distraction as he explored complex cardboard attachments with his three-person team. Using the new tools, he mastered techniques like scoring, tabs, inserts, flanges, gussets, and slots to create intricate small models. Many of my students have explicitly told me that this is \"the best class they have ever had.\"\r\n\r\nThe excitement has even traveled home. I was recently contacted by a parent who said her child came home raving about the project; that student has since joined our \"Art Lunch Bunch\" group, dedicated to spending extra time perfecting the build.\r\nThe city is currently a work-in-progress as we head toward our May deadline. The students are hard at work on:\r\n\t•\tThe Multi-Story School: A two-story structure featuring a massive water slide exiting from the second floor.\r\n\t•\tThe Ecological Pond: Located under the slide, this pond serves as a hub for science and marine biology enrichment, teaching the children to be \"good shepherds\" of their ecosystem.\r\n\t•\tImaginative Community Spaces: The class is currently dreaming up a carousel, a dog park, a local café, and the people who will inhabit this futuristic world.\r\n\r\nWatching these young artists transition into young engineers has been the highlight of my year. You haven't just provided tools; you have provided a sense of purpose and a platform for their imaginations to thrive.
