They will also allow students to work independently and at their own pace while building important technology skills.\r\n\r\nThe Polaroid camera will bring something especially fun and meaningful to our classroom. My students will be able to use it to document special moments, classroom experiences, projects, and their learning throughout the year. I love the idea of creating a classroom where students can look back and see all of the things they accomplished and experienced together.\r\n\r\nThese materials are more than just technology! They give my students new ways to explore, learn, create, and express themselves. The cushions are a favorite and added a special touch to our classroom reading time with alternative seating. Students are more engaged with wanting to read their books the whole independent reading time of 20/25 minutes. We also love (especially me) the gray storage shelf to house many of our favorite books! \r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, they were excited to use them immediately! This project allows all students to have a choice with alternative seating we already have in the classroom, and it is an incentive for those that want to read or listen to books. They are learning how to build stamina for longer reading, track characters and plot across chapters, make predictions, and deepen their comprehension by discussing themes and character motivations. These books also allow us to introduce important lessons in vocabulary development, fluency, and critical thinking as students begin to analyze stories more independently.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom is an active and joyful experience. Students participate in a mix of whole-group read-alouds, small guided reading groups, and independent reading time. You might see students curled up with a book, partnering with a classmate to discuss a chapter, or eagerly raising their hands to share their thinking about a character's choices. There is a growing sense of excitement and confidence as students begin to see themselves as \"real readers.\"\r\n\r\nSeveral students, in particular, have truly blossomed with these new books.
