The all-in-one magnetic phonics kits have brought an energy and excitement to our literacy block that I truly could not have created without you.\r\n\r\nFrom the moment my students first saw the brightly colored magnetic letters and word-building boards, their faces lit up. Several of them immediately sat down and began experimenting by sliding letters around, trying out new sounds, and proudly reading their creations aloud. One of my favorite moments happened during our very first lesson with the kits. A student who often hesitates to participate picked up the letters m, a, and p, sounded them out carefully, and suddenly looked up with the biggest smile and said, \"I made a word!\" That confidence and joy are exactly what I hoped these materials would inspire. \r\n\r\nWe now use the kits daily during small-group phonics instruction and literacy centers. Students are building CVC words with increasing independence. The tactile nature of the magnetic letters has made an incredible difference, students who usually struggle to stay engaged are ow focused, eager, and actively participating. The manipulatives truly make abstract skills feel concrete and accessible. \r\n\r\nAs the year progresses, we will begin introducing digraphs, and the students are already excited to \"level up\" their word-building. These kits will continue to support their growth as reader sand writers, helping them transition from simple CVC words to more complex patterns with confidence. \r\n\r\nYour kindness has turned everything phonics lessons into memorable, meaningful learning experiences. Thank you for believing in my students and giving them the tools they need to grow. My students have loved exploring their reading units and having fun doing so. When I am able to pull out the supplies to show them what we get to do they are so excited. I have only pulled out some of the supplies so far because we have more units to come this year. So far they have become more interested in the topics and ready to learn and explore. \r\nDuring our Ancient Chinese Civilizations unit they were able to sample fortune cookies and taste rice which they learned was one of the main foods in China. With our Ancient Greek Civilization's they learned about the Olympics so we had our own mini (minute to win it games) Olympics in the room this year and everyone was able to win their own gold medal! Our human body unit is later this year and I can't wait to see the excitement and see their eyes light up when they get to wear the jackets and stethoscopes. \r\nThese little things are making such a big impact on my students who don't always get to experience much due to low economic status. I try to do anything I can to make learning more fun and memorable.","fullyFundedDate":1726594859092,"projectUrl":"project/time-to-explore-reading/8445838/","projectTitle":"Time to Explore Reading!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kerpen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9565099_orig.png?crop=524,525,x0,y33&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724964992063","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9565099"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44486","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":489,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":18,"percentWhite":65,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 3","studentTeacherRatio":"13.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":63.9,"schoolId":44486,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lake Forest North Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lake Forest North Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/lake-forest-school-district/lake-forest-north-elementary-school/44486"}
