The arrival of the hydroponic growing systems brought excitement, curiosity, and a new sense of purpose to our learning environment. Students who are often hesitant to engage became active participants as they set up the systems, planted seeds, monitored water levels, and tracked plant growth.\r\n\r\nThis hands-on project has transformed our classroom into a space where science, literacy, and life skills come together. Students are learning about sustainable agriculture, the importance of healthy food, and how to care for living things. They're also developing critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. We've connected our reading and writing lessons to what we're growing—writing reflections, recording data, and even researching how hydroponics can impact food deserts and communities in need.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has given my students—many of whom are in a residential treatment program—a sense of pride and accomplishment. Watching something grow because of their own effort has helped them see their potential in a whole new light. Thank you for giving them that opportunity and helping us build a classroom rooted in growth, purpose, and hope.","fullyFundedDate":1742978073553,"projectUrl":"project/growing-minds-and-gardens/9054482/","projectTitle":"Growing Minds and Gardens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. McKenzie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7807719_orig.jpg?crop=889,889,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1633726949026","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/teachgirlteach"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_133697","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":41,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":37,"percentWhite":33,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":60.0,"schoolId":133697,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Cleveland White School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Cleveland White School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/delaware-department-of-education/cleveland-white-school/133697"}
