By building robots with simple crafting materials, students were able to blend hands-on creativity with academic skill-building. As they designed, constructed, and tested their robots, they read informational texts, followed multi-step written directions, and wrote reflections about their design choices. This purposeful reading and writing strengthened their comprehension, vocabulary, and ability to communicate technical ideas clearly.\r\n\r\nThe materials provided through this project helped students who often struggle with traditional literacy tasks become more confident and engaged readers. Because the robot-building activities were fun, collaborative, and connected to real-world problem solving, students were motivated to read more carefully, discuss their ideas with peers, and revise their written work. I saw measurable growth in their ability to interpret nonfiction texts, explain their thinking in writing, and work through challenges with persistence.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, students not only improved their literacy skills but also discovered that engineering and creativity are within their reach. This project truly expanded their sense of what they can do—and who they can become.","fullyFundedDate":1760664707159,"projectUrl":"project/crafting-robots-building-words/9696670/","projectTitle":"Crafting Robots, Building Words","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3068275_orig.jpg?crop=539,539,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628782851192","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mzcarter"},{"teacherId":3068275,"projectId":9843022,"letterContent":"The implementation of the typing software has had a measurable and meaningful impact on student progress across our STEM curriculum. Since integrating the program, students have demonstrated significant growth in both typing fluency and overall digital confidence. Average typing speed increased by 32% and accuracy improved by 28% within one semester, allowing students to complete computer-based assignments more efficiently and with less frustration.\r\n\r\nThese gains have directly strengthened students' performance in STEM activities such as coding, data entry, online research, and digital design. Students who previously struggled to keep up during technology-based tasks are now more engaged and able to participate fully in collaborative projects. Teachers have reported noticeable improvements in students' ability to focus on problem-solving rather than on the mechanics of typing, leading to deeper learning and stronger academic outcomes.\r\n\r\nThe program has also helped close skill gaps for English Language Learners and students with limited home access to technology. By providing structured, individualized practice, the software has created a more equitable learning environment where every student can develop essential digital fluency skills.\r\n\r\nOverall, the typing program has increased student confidence, improved academic efficiency, and strengthened students' readiness for more advanced STEM coursework. This foundational skill set will continue to support their long-term success in technology-driven learning.","fullyFundedDate":1761917241212,"projectUrl":"project/typing-to-innovate-building-stem-skills/9843022/","projectTitle":"Typing to Innovate: Building Stem Skills Through Digital Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3068275_orig.jpg?crop=539,539,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628782851192","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mzcarter"},{"teacherId":10328478,"projectId":9862100,"letterContent":"Thank you again for all of the items!
