These resources helped create a classroom environment where students felt safe, supported, and motivated to engage.\r\n\r\nThe materials strengthened reading skills by giving students accessible, engaging tools that met them where they are, while also supporting social-emotional learning by encouraging self-expression, emotional regulation, and confidence. As students used these resources, they demonstrated improved focus, increased participation, and a greater willingness to communicate their thoughts and feelings.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, the items reinforced the message that their growth—both academically and emotionally—matters. Students felt seen and valued, which contributed to a more compassionate, connected, and supportive classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1760797666016,"projectUrl":"project/promoting-student-growth-holisticallynu/9834910/","projectTitle":"Promoting Student Growth Holistically—nurturing Both Emotional Well-being and Academic Success!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Henry","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7678444_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751731262236","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7678444"},{"teacherId":10308208,"projectId":9815699,"letterContent":"The new books have introduced and strengthened several key reading skills in our classroom, including identifying theme, making inferences, annotating text, and discussing characters' motivations and perspectives. Because the texts are at students' reading levels and reflect their interests, students are better able to practice these skills with confidence and independence. Lessons now focus on close reading strategies such as highlighting important details, asking questions in the margins, and supporting ideas with evidence from the text. These books have truly transformed reading instruction by allowing students to engage deeply with texts they can access and genuinely enjoy.\r\nReading in our classroom is active, engaging, and student-centered. Students choose books that interest them, read independently or in small groups, and use highlighters to tangibly interact with the text by marking key ideas, unfamiliar words, and meaningful quotes. The highlighters ensure that every student has the opportunity to participate fully in annotation and comprehension strategies. Carpet squares are used daily to create a comfortable and welcoming reading environment, allowing students to spread out, relax, and focus. Several students who were previously reluctant readers are especially enjoying the new books; they are excited to talk about their stories, recommend titles to peers, and spend more time reading because they finally have books that feel \"just right\" for them.","fullyFundedDate":1760372204826,"projectUrl":"project/learn-to-love-literacy/9815699/","projectTitle":"Learn to Love Literacy","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Torres","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10308208_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760315556061","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10308208"},{"teacherId":10315588,"projectId":9837281,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my DonorsChoose project. The kids were so excited and grateful for the snacks and prizes. Sometimes kids are hungry while in sessions which causes them to lose focus. Many kids face this issue in silence, but providing snacks has allowed some students to open up about this challenge. When the kids come to sessions and they get prizes and snacks they are more engaged and tend to express more feelings of gratitude when learning and participating in SEL groups and Speech therapy sessions.","fullyFundedDate":1761588014299,"projectUrl":"project/using-sel-slt-as-pathways-to-improve-s/9857470/","projectTitle":"Using SEL & SLT as Pathways to Improve Student Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Wright","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10329422_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761757151731","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10329422"},{"teacherId":10327287,"projectId":9853493,"letterContent":"On behalf of our students and myself, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous support of our classroom. Your contribution will truly made a difference in creating a welcoming and engaging learning environment for all of our learners.\r\n\r\nOur multilingual learners will especially benefited from the computer station. They use technology as a valuable tool to translate classroom materials into their home languages, allowing them to access lessons more confidently and participate more fully in discussions. This technology will help bridge language barriers and empowers them to build both their academic vocabulary and their independence.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, the fidgets you provided have been a wonderful resource for students who experience math anxiety. These simple tools give students a quiet way to self-regulate and stay focused during lessons. We've noticed that students are calmer, more attentive, and more willing to take risks in their learning.\r\n\r\nMath games have also become a favorite part of our routine. They provide an inviting entry point for all students to explore mathematical ideas in a low-stress, hands-on way. Through play, collaboration, and friendly competition, students are making meaningful connections to math concepts — and to each other.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our classroom and for helping us create a space where every student feels valued, capable, and excited to learn. Your generosity continues to make a lasting impact on our students' growth and confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1761485838802,"projectUrl":"project/stress-free-math-antics/9853493/","projectTitle":"Stress-free Math Antics","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10327287_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1761240858237","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10327287"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68150","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":848,"numTeachers":48,"percentFrplEligible":29,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":28,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":11,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"17.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":68.2,"schoolId":68150,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Fred Fifer III Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Fred Fifer III Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/delaware/caesar-rodney-school-district/fred-fifer-iii-middle-school/68150"}
