My students were thrilled when they first saw the new wobble stools and were eager to try them. They immediately noticed that the stools allowed them to move gently while remaining seated and focused on their work.\r\n\r\nWe are using the stools daily during small-group reading and math instruction. One especially memorable moment occurred during a counting collections lesson. As students sorted, grouped, and counted sets of objects, the flexible seating helped them remain engaged while discussing their strategies with their classmates. Students who typically become restless during small-group activities were able to direct their need for movement in a productive way and participate for a longer period of time.\r\n\r\nBecause of these materials, I can provide students with greater choice while creating a learning environment that supports attention, self-regulation, and collaboration. Our next step is to continue using the seating during more challenging math tasks in which students will compare counting strategies, write equations, and explain their reasoning.
