When my students feel safe, which they have by knowing when the arrive to class and they are hungry, snacks are available, this allows them to go the extra mile, to be pleasant and kind to their peers, to enjoy the classroom atmosphere, and to act more like family and friends. \r\nI recently took a personal day, and I informed my students prior to the day, and several of them were asking me not to. \"Miss what are we going to do without you\" \"It won't be the same if you're not here\". The supplies will keep the class healthy and focused throughout the year.\r\n\r\nI reinforced the importance of staying clean both for themselves and one another and it made a big impact on the children. We have a routine that has normalized replacing the materials when they run out and returning them to their set locations. We have had far fewer interruptions due to messy desks and sniffly noses!\r\n\r\nWe have also been able to tie in the hygiene materials to the curriculum. Tissue boxes are recyclable which is related to our unit on sustainability and using alcohol to sanitize is related to our lab safety training on biological contamination.\r\n\r\nSo, again I would like to thank you for your patronage. The students are so excited about the additions to our garden. The unboxing was the most fun they have had during this project. Some students didn't know that we needed or could employ bat houses to help the pollination in our garden.
