It was a sensory fidget item that wasn't distracting to anyone around them or disruptive to the teaching in our classroom. We started a whole school initiative of journaling this school year. Based on research we learned all the benefits both kids and adults received from daily journaling. Each morning the whole school would stop five minutes and journal.\r\n\r\nWe quickly got into this routine and what started out as something required and painful quickly took a turn into something we loved and looked forward to each morning. We just used our pencils and mismatched notebooks. \r\n\r\nThis project allowed me to purchase a variety of exciting writing tools and beautiful notebooks to use as our journals each day. We were able to study the life cycles of animal and plants in our science unit. From there we focused on the sunflower and butterfly life cycles. Thanks to you are reading and learning we were actually able to watch the life cycle of both in person. \r\n The student were able to grow a sunflower from seed in class watch the seedling grow and take it home to plant in their yards to watch it grow and mature all summer. The butterflies we were able to watch go through their whole life cycle right before their eyes on their desks. They are not able to be released in CT so we took them to a nearby state that allowed their release.
