The blending board has become a staple in our literacy instruction and is used multiple times each week. Students use it to practice blending sounds, building words, and strengthening their phonics skills in a hands-on, engaging way. One especially meaningful moment was watching a student who typically struggles with blending confidently read a word after sliding the sounds together on the board—seeing that pride and excitement was incredible.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their reactions were full of excitement and curiosity. They were eager to explore the blending board and immediately asked when they could use it. The coloring tools were just as exciting; students loved having highlighters, markers, dot markers, and glue sticks to use during lessons and activities. These tools have helped increase motivation, creativity, and focus during academic tasks. The prizes for the prize bin were also a huge hit and have been a powerful motivator for positive behavior, effort, and engagement.\r\n\r\nThanks to our donors, students now have access to tools that support both learning and motivation. The next steps for our students include continuing to build foundational reading skills using the blending board, increasing independence with blending and decoding, and applying these skills to reading and writing activities. We will also continue to use the coloring tools for interactive lessons and projects that help reinforce learning.
