The new materials have already become an important part of our classroom and have made such a positive impact on our students.\r\n\r\nOur students were so excited when they first saw the new materials. They immediately wanted to explore the tent and swing, and the sensory items quickly became favorites. Having access to sensory activities throughout the day gives them a safe and engaging way to regulate their bodies, take a break when needed, and return to learning ready to participate.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite moments has been watching students independently seek out the tent or other sensory materials! The swing has also become a wonderful opportunity for students to practice requesting, waiting, and taking turns with their peers. These may seem like small moments, but they are meaningful steps toward greater independence and communication.\r\n\r\nWe are continuing to incorporate the new materials into our daily classroom routines, centers, and movement breaks. Our next steps are to help students learn how to independently choose an appropriate sensory activity, communicate what they need, and gradually increase their ability to return to classroom activities after taking a sensory break.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students resources that support not only their learning, but also their comfort, independence, communication, and overall well-being. We are incredibly grateful for your generosity and for helping us create a classroom where every student has the tools they need to be successful!","fullyFundedDate":1782103233154,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-sensory-friendly-classroom-fo/10169058/","projectTitle":"Building a Sensory Friendly Classroom for Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Stephanie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9457445_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1774412931416","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9457445"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_44051","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":386,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":14,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":69,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":7,"gradesServed":"1 - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"13.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":88.9,"schoolId":44051,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Peck Place Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Peck Place Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/orange-elementary-school-district/peck-place-elementary-school/44051"}
