Since I wrote this request, our band has grown considerably. We now have almost 130 kids in the program, and 22 of them are in the percussion section. \r\n\r\nHaving these drum stands has made such a different in our ability to hold lessons and accommodate a range of student heights. Before, we had a few full size concert drum stands but most of our stands came with donated drum sets. These are meant to be used with a seated player so they do not raise to a high enough height to be played by a standing student unless they are very short. You can see the difference in one of the attache pictures. \r\n\r\nWith these new stands, we can have five full size snares in use and can even split some out to be used with practice pads instead of drums. This allows more kids to be playing and practicing while maintaining good posture. These stands will make a difference in our percussion section for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1707007942199,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-stand-up-percussion-section/8187339/","projectTitle":"Creating a Stand Up Percussion Section","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Guda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3184566"},{"teacherId":10051697,"projectId":9435763,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my project to provide viola shoulder rests for my middle school orchestra students. Your kindness has made it possible for every violist in our ensemble to play comfortably and with proper posture—something that truly transforms both their sound and confidence.\r\n\r\nMany of my students cannot afford these shoulder rests on their own, and they were incredibly excited to see that I was able to provide one for them to use. Before these shoulder rests arrived, several students struggled to find the right playing position, which affected their tone and intonation. Now, they can hold their instruments correctly and concentrate on making music together. The difference in their comfort, confidence, and enthusiasm is already clear in rehearsals!\r\n\r\nYour contribution not only supports proper technique but also sends a powerful message to my students—that their musical growth matters and that there are people who believe in them. These shoulder rests will continue to benefit new generations of violists for years to come.\r\n\r\nFrom all of my students at Nathan Hale, thank you for investing in our students' success and for helping them reach their full musical potential.","fullyFundedDate":1752586367758,"projectUrl":"project/viola-shoulder-rests/9435763/","projectTitle":"Viola Shoulder Rests","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Gallagher","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10051697"},{"teacherId":3184566,"projectId":9428311,"letterContent":"After a month in school, I can't imagine teaching without this white board. It allows me a space to write out rhythms and explain note reading as well as gives me a place to list important dates and reminders. The digital white board is an amazing tool to have, but as you can see in the pictures, the original dry erase board was sacrificed when it was installed. \r\n\r\nI use the digital white board to post a slideshow of our standards, goals, weekly schedule, and other important information, and I also keep Spanish subtitles of my teaching running below the slides for our MLL students. However, with the board taken up by these important tasks I would have nowhere to teach from, explain new rhythms, or write out symbols and other important visual tasks that arise during a rehearsal period. The fact that the entire board flips is such an added bonus - it lets me use one side for prepared exercises and notes and the other for issues that might come up as the class goes on.\r\n\r\nI know a white board seems like a small thing, but in some situations low tech is the best tech and we are so glad to have it!","fullyFundedDate":1750690595840,"projectUrl":"project/rolling-into-a-new-room/9428311/","projectTitle":"Rolling into a New Room!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Guda","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3184566"},{"teacherId":2796238,"projectId":8935339,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my classroom several months ago. Your generous donations purchased an extruder for our MakerBot 3D printer. This is the essential component of a 3D printer - it heats the material and distributes it precisely to form the 3D models. \r\n\r\nOnce the part came in, we put it to good use. We 3D printed houses and Parthenons; holiday ornaments and valentine hearts; simple machines and robot parts. Please see the photos I've shared - including one of my favorite projects in which a student designed 'action figures' for all his family members!\r\n\r\nThese are just a few examples of the printed models that your donations made possible over these past few months, and will continue to make possible for months or years to come. The microphone sounds crystal clear and it has really taken our media program here to a whole new level.\r\n\r\nWith the new Rode microphone, I have also been educating my students on how to conduct formal and informal interviews in class, as well as how to attach the microphone properly to a camera/camcorder. Most of my students have never held a camera or microphone before, so it's been a great learning experience for them to partake in. \r\n\r\nThank you again so much for making this possible for our students.
