As spring rolls in and seniors are getting closer and closer to that graduation date, their burnout is real and impending. With these classroom prize box goodies, I have been able to incentivize so many classroom activities and competitions that have gotten my seniors engaged in a very real way. They thoroughly enjoy being rewarded for their efforts and are accomplishing work in record time just for the chance to take a look in my classroom prize box. \r\n\r\nMy students were THRILLED the moment they realized my prize box had been refilled (to the brim!) with not only fun little fidget toys, but goodies for when they are hungry or tired and don't have the energy to give 110% effort. \r\n\r\nJust the other day, my Public Speaking classes participated in a series of mock interviews and resume workshops. It was a very serious morning and kids were very nervous for their interviews, so I eased the tension by walking around with the prize box, telling them how great they were going to do. They were beyond excited and relieved to have something to take their attention away from the nerves they were feeling. It lightened the mood of the entire morning and the event was a great success.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for helping make it happen. I am so grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1772648442626,"projectUrl":"project/seniors-are-just-oversized-kindergartene/9881974/","projectTitle":"Seniors Are Just Oversized Kindergarteners: Help Them Enjoy School Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Radziewicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8949596"},{"teacherId":1396780,"projectId":9899540,"letterContent":"Thank you again for donating money toward the purchase of the new Building Thinking Classrooms books for my school. We have been reading the book and using it to create lessons that follow the Building Thinking Classrooms framework. We have been finding it easy to create lessons with our existing curriculum. Students are much more engaged than the past. We see students actively participating in math class every day solving curricular tasks. Students are also actively communicating with each other, using mathematical discourse. These books will form the foundation of our future math curriculum Grades 7-12. I teach seniors, so there is unfortunately a lot of apathy, as they recognize how close they are to the finish line and just want to get over it as painlessly as possible. That being said, with my prize box brimming with fun and engaging fidgets, crafts, snacks, candy, and more, they were so much more inclined to participate and compete in games/activities if they knew the prize box was up for grabs. I seriously cannot tell you how many times they SCREAMED when they lost a game/activity and subsequently a chance at grabbing a prize from my prize box. It helped make lessons and classes so much more engaging, especially in those tough last few months of school when they just want class to be easy, rather than fun but also challenging. Thank you so much for the incredible gifts that kept my seniors going. I am incredibly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1746785481565,"projectUrl":"project/seniors-are-just-oversized-kindergartene/9195320/","projectTitle":"Seniors Are Just Oversized Kindergarteners: Help Them Enjoy School Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Radziewicz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8949596"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_43851","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":536,"numTeachers":56,"percentFrplEligible":61,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":92,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":3,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"9.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":50.0,"schoolId":43851,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Northwestern Regional High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Northwestern Regional High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/connecticut/northwestern-regional-school-district-7/northwestern-regional-high-school/43851"}
