Because of the generosity of donors through DonorsChoose, each of my students now has their own clipboard — and that simple tool truly elevated our rock samples investigation.\r\nDuring our hands-on study of rock samples, I had students rotate from station to station to observe, test, and record properties like texture, hardness, and composition. With their own clipboards, they were able to secure their data sheets and move around the room efficiently. Instead of worrying about losing papers or waiting to share materials, they stayed focused on gathering accurate data and engaging deeply in the investigation.\r\nThe excitement was immediate. My students were thrilled to receive brand-new materials that belonged to them. Not having to share clipboards increased independence, reduced distractions, and improved time on task. I noticed stronger engagement and more thoughtful data collection because students felt prepared and equipped like real scientists.\r\nMoving forward, my next steps are to continue strengthening how we analyze data. I plan to guide students in organizing their findings into charts and graphs, identifying patterns, comparing results, and drawing evidence-based conclusions. It has been a huge success in my classroom and I cannot thank you enough. The students use the resources like the bean bag chair during independent reading or for independent work. We also came up with a class agreement to assign the bean bag chair to a student for the whole day when it's their birthday! They also love using the fidget toys when we take quizzes. Sometimes I even make them a small \"care package\" with the items to show that they've worked really hard. \r\n\r\nMy students were over the moon when they first saw the items! Of course they wanted to know what was in the big box and once the bean bag chair was revealed, they were ecstatic to have a chance to sit in it. I think they were also more excited for the snacks than the fidget toys hahaha. They definitely get hungry throughout the day and having that quick snack break while they worked has helped a lot. For those with testing anxiety or I can tell they're just very antsy, I offer the fidget and they seem to calm down and relax more. \r\n\r\nThe next steps for the next classroom lesson will be incorporating more fidget options to choose from throughout the whole day instead of during testing time.
