These books have been an amazing addition to my speech therapy room. Before this project, many of the books available to my students were older and outdated, so I was incredibly excited to bring in new books with engaging stories and colorful, detailed illustrations.\r\n\r\nMy students have already been loving the new books, especially the illustrations! I intentionally chose books with detailed pictures because they provide so many opportunities for communication. There is so much for my students to notice, describe, comment on, and talk about, making the books wonderful tools for targeting language and communication skills during speech sessions.\r\n\r\nI am especially excited to have the Snowman series, including Snowman at Night. I love using these books because the illustrations provide endless opportunities for discussion and allow students to make observations, answer questions, make predictions, and use language to describe what they see. I also plan to create book companions to go along with the stories so I can extend the learning and use the books to target a variety of speech and language goals.\r\n\r\nThese books will also be especially valuable for my students who use AAC. They provide meaningful opportunities to practice core words and other vocabulary within engaging, shared reading activities. \r\n\r\nI am so grateful for the generosity that brought these books into my speech room. I was so excited when these supplies arrived, and they have already made such a difference in my speech therapy room.\r\n\r\nMy favorite part has definitely been the air purifier. It arrived at almost the exact moment I was moving dusty materials within my classroom, so the timing could not have been more perfect! It has helped make the room feel noticeably less stuffy and has been especially appreciated as I continue to work on moving stuff around within the room.\r\n\r\nThe hand sanitizer has quickly become part of our daily speech therapy routine, too. I start every session by having students use hand sanitizer, and it is actually the very first item on the visual schedule in my speech room. This gives students a predictable routine as they transition into speech while also helping us practice good hygiene. My students have even gotten surprisingly excited about it! I have a few students who, whenever they see someone else use hand sanitizer, immediately insist that they need some too.\r\n\r\nOf course, cleaning and hygiene supplies may not seem like the most exciting materials for students, but having tissues, hand sanitizer, hand soap, wipes, and other cleaning supplies readily available makes such a difference. These resources have been especially important as we get into the school year and germs inevitably start making their way around the building. Students spend so much time learning and interacting together, so illnesses can spread quickly. I also have students who are still learning how to cover their coughs and sneezes, which makes having cleaning supplies on hand essential for keeping our shared space clean and comfortable.\r\n\r\nI am incredibly grateful for your generosity and for helping me create a clean, welcoming speech therapy environment.
