My students are already benefitting from your generosity, even this early in the school year.\r\nBasic classroom supplies, like pencils, erasers, and glue sticks come in handy on an almost daily basis. However, it goes unnoticed how often I need to also use laminating sheets to make materials more durable, or to brighten up the classroom with posters and other wall hangings. For example, I parent gifted me new birthday signs for the classroom, so I laminated them for use year after year. It came out so cute and makes the room look more inviting and \"homey\" for my students.\r\nI've also been able to use the Ziploc bags for a growing seeds experiment that connects directly to our science curriculum. The students put seeds into wet paper towels and then the towels went into the Ziploc bags. You helped stock the kitchen with flour and other ingredients so that my Kitchen Chemistry elective students could not just learn about cooking techniques but also practice them. \r\n\r\nYou also helped bring chess to more people as I offered Chess Club for the first time. The club grew in popularity throughout the school year, and those chess setse were also used when students earned free time during class. Students were enthusiastic and so gracious in helping other students learn how to play. As skill levels rose, students enjoyed using the timers for competitive but good-natured chess matches. My students look forward to cooking in the Kitchen Chemistry elective. They have learned how to make a variety of items, and they also learn some of the background of how items go from farm to table and some of the steps in between, such as how wheat in the field becomes flour that they then use to make biscuits and brownies and other foods. \r\n\r\nWe appreciate having extra mixing bowls and ingredients such as vanilla to use in our baked goods. Not only were your donations used during the Kitchen Chemistry elective, but I also offered an afterschool Cooking Club, which allowed more students time in the kitchen. \r\n\r\nStudents were interested in learning some of the basic chemistry that results in some foods turning \"golden, brown and delicious.\" We learned about the different leavening agents such as baking soda and baking powder. We learned about acids in cooking. Mostly, students loved tasting what they made. They learned that it wasn't as easy as they thought it would be to print flexible fingers and prosthetic pieces. They learned that they could create some simple objects to help their classmates and students at their school. My coach came to school several times to help them, and they took great satisfaction in assembling prosthetic fingers (even though they really wanted to create whole arms!). They learned that different filament materials print differently, and some are a little more difficult to work with than others. They have also learned patience, as it took a lot of patience and attempts to print pieces correctly. It took a lot of patience to assemble pieces. It took a lot of patience, even for simpler objects that they designed, because sometimes projects didn't work the way they thought they would. Not having enough pencils and being without a class pencil sharpener during the last weeks of school was not fun to deal with. Having 2 brand new electric pencil sharpeners as well as extra pencils to make it to the end was key to a smooth ending. My students were excited to use the new sharpener and have been very responsible in using it and keeping all the unsharpened pencils sharpened before leaving for the day. As you can imagine, we need paper for so many things for learning. Each teacher is given 1 case of paper for the entire year, which doesn't last more than 1/2 to 2/3 of the year. For this, we are appreciative.\r\n\r\nA neighbor donated the printer to my classroom and the ink that was purchased made it possible for me to print pages that student's may have lost. I've also been able to save time by printing missing work reports for students.
