While many of our donors may be familiar with similar games or activities in a home setting, in our school the Game Room is purposefully designed as a PBIS incentive space that reinforces positive decision-making, responsibility, and community.\r\n\r\nThe games and materials support learning by giving students an opportunity to practice real-life skills that are critical at the high school level—collaboration, communication, leadership, and emotional regulation. Students are learning how to engage respectfully with peers, navigate competition appropriately, and manage stress in healthy ways. This has helped students return to class more focused, regulated, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is that the space feels mature, earned, and respectful. The foosball table, basketball game, and life-size Connect Four provide interactive experiences that encourage peer interaction without screens. Students appreciate having a space that recognizes their need for downtime while still holding clear expectations for behavior.\r\n\r\nWe've seen particular engagement from students who often feel disconnected from school or overwhelmed by academic and social pressures. Some students who are typically quiet or disengaged are building peer relationships, while others who struggle with behavior are using the space as a positive incentive to stay on track. For many, access to the Game Room has become a motivating factor to meet expectations and remain in good standing.\r\n\r\nBecause of this project, students feel trusted, valued, and motivated to make positive choices. The Game Room is not just a place to spend time—it is a space that reinforces responsibility, belonging, and the skills students need to be successful in and beyond high school. We are deeply grateful to our donors for making this opportunity possible.","fullyFundedDate":1755810814169,"projectUrl":"project/pbis-game-room-rewarding-positive-behav/9542153/","projectTitle":"PBIS Game Room: Rewarding Positive Behavior with Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tegan Willis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1645879_orig.png?crop=329,329,x133,y45&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755621826243","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/tegan-willis"},{"teacherId":3406794,"projectId":9847787,"letterContent":"I am deeply grateful for your support of my classroom and students through your generous donation to our project. We utilized them in a large-scale collaborative grid project, where students enlarged small squares of an image to create a unified, giant drawing. Additionally, the lights were instrumental in capturing dynamic portraits for our self-portrait project.\r\n\r\nThe addition of drawing lights will continue to enrich the educational experience for my students each semester!
