In a world that moves so quickly, having a physical space like this reminds my students that their emotional health is just as important as their spelling or math progress. It teaches them self-advocacy, showing them that it is okay to take a break when things get tough.\r\n\t•\tThe Calming Resources: The calming resources you funded—from sensory focus items to quiet mindfulness tools—are exactly what my students need to manage their big emotions. They will surely utilize them daily to find their ground, decompress, and return to their learning with a peaceful, focused mind.\r\n\t•\tThe Weighted Husky Dog: One of their absolute favorite tools in the entire station is the weighted husky dog. There is something incredibly grounding about the deep pressure of a weighted plush, and this friendly husky has already become a beloved classroom companion. When a student is having a tough moment, sitting with the husky helps them feel instantly secure, calm, and ready to face the day.\r\nHaving these high-quality SEL books and resources available for my students is simply invaluable to our daily routines. At this age, children are navigating increasingly complex social dynamics and learning how to identify, understand, and communicate their feelings.\r\n\t•\tOur New Literature: The books you provided give us a beautiful, shared language to talk about empathy, resilience, kindness, and self-respect. Reading these stories together allows my students to see their own struggles and successes reflected on the pages, sparking incredibly meaningful class discussions.\r\n\t•\tBuilding Lifelong Skills: These resources teach my students how to navigate conflicts peacefully, build strong friendships, and support one another. Three packages of books about feelings and managing emotions were delivered to my classroom yesterday from generous donors like you. The timing could not have been more perfect. I had a dysregulated student who needed a break. As a distraction I said \" let's see what is in this package we received\". When we opened the box I was delighted to find many books on managing big emotions that we could read together. The student enjoyed having me read one of the books to her. This helped us build a relationship and she learned some strategies to use when feeling angry. \r\nMy plan is to read these books to the class during snack, morning meeting time and at restorative class meetings. The lessons gained through this literature will help students navigate their way through big emotions. \r\nThank you for investing in the young learners at our school. Your generosity is appreciated.
