Because of your kindness, my preschoolers now have a beautiful dollhouse and a full set of engaging accessories that immediately sparked their imagination. The moment the materials arrived, the children gathered around with wide eyes, eager hands, and endless ideas for how to bring their new play space to life.\r\nAlready, the dollhouse has become a central part of our daily learning. Students are using it to practice language skills, cooperation, storytelling, and problem-solving as they work together to create families, build homes, and act out real-world situations. For many of our little learners, this type of pretend play helps them process emotions, build empathy, and develop social skills in a safe and joyful way. Your generosity has given them a tool that will support their growth for years to come. There are even a few of my little learners that always want to play with the dollhouse first before any other center! Their excitement is always so refreshing to see as they all come from very low income families with little exposure to new toys. \r\nThank you for believing in our students and investing in their early childhood experience. Your support means more than you know, and the impact is visible every day in the smiles, collaboration, and creativity happening in our classroom. Because of your kindness, our learning space has become more inclusive, calming, and supportive for all of our students—especially those who benefit from sensory input and structured comfort throughout the day.\r\n\r\nThe arrival of our sensory and fidget toys has had an immediate and positive impact. Students who previously struggled with focus or restlessness now have tools they can turn to when they need to self-regulate. These toys help reduce anxiety, improve concentration, and allow our learners to stay engaged in a way that works for them.\r\n\r\nOur new nesting toys are especially loved by our younger students and those working on fine motor and spatial awareness skills. These toys provide opportunities for imaginative play while also supporting hand-eye coordination and cognitive development through sorting, stacking, and organizing.\r\n\r\nOne of the most impactful additions has been the mini-refrigerator. It may seem simple, but having access to cold snacks, drinks, or even therapeutic items like cool packs makes a big difference in our day. For students with medical or sensory needs, the ability to keep items fresh and easily accessible has added an extra layer of care and comfort.\r\n\r\nYour donation has created a more supportive and responsive environment—one where every child feels seen, understood, and cared for. Because of your support, our learning environment has been transformed with engaging and hands-on materials that spark creativity, curiosity, and joy in our students every single day.\r\n\r\nThe arrival of the tree puzzles, crayons, markers, tree blocks, and tree builders was met with huge excitement from the kids. These supplies have opened new avenues for both imaginative play and academic exploration. Students eagerly dive into the tree puzzles, working together to solve them, building not only their fine motor skills but also their teamwork and problem-solving abilities.\r\n\r\nThe crayons and markers have brought color and creativity to our daily lessons. Whether we're drawing the parts of a tree, illustrating the changing seasons, or just expressing ourselves through art, these tools have given students a way to bring their ideas to life.\r\n\r\nThe tree blocks and tree builders have been a huge hit during both play and learning centers. Children use them to build forest scenes, act out animal habitats, and explore the concept of ecosystems and biodiversity. It's incredible to watch how their imaginations come alive when given the right materials.\r\n\r\nMore than just supplies, your donation has brought joy, engagement, and a deeper connection to learning. They have truly enhanced our learning in the classroom as well as helped to facilitate strong routines to start off the new school year. Students were so excited to see packages of new materials arrive to our classroom and got to help open up the boxes. \r\nThe paint sticks went to support all students in our school building on our school wide field day this past June. Students used them to paint rocks to take home and share with their families. They were minimal mess but made for a lot of fun. \r\nMany of the other materials were used to help me prepare for back to school this fall and get all of my students materials organized. This allowed a smooth transition back to school. Laminating sheets are critical to make visuals for my students to help them be successful in the school and have some in very handy as I meet my new students and determine their needs. \r\nThe books have gone in my classroom library for students to look at as well as to teach diversity and varying needs to my students. We focus on diversity and the acceptance of all students within our classroom and school. The dustpans are used in our dramatic play center for pretend play as well as in our sensory table area for students to demonstrate independence in cleaning up their messes on their own. These activities have strengthened their language development as they learn new vocabulary, practice conversation, and tell stories through pretend play. It's also fostered collaboration and sharing, as students work together in our dramatic play area to role-play real-world scenarios.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the baskets helped create a more organized and inviting play environment, encouraging responsibility and care for classroom materials. I've seen students who were previously shy become more engaged and expressive, and those with developing motor skills benefit from handling and sorting the various food items.\r\n\r\nThis project has helped nurture creativity, confidence, and foundational social-emotional skills. By funding the acquisition of essential materials such as laminating supplies, Velcro, cardstock, colored paper, markers, and visual display boards, this project empowers the teacher to create a wide array of durable, interactive visual supports tailored to the diverse needs of young learners.\r\n\r\nHere are the key areas of impact:\r\n\r\nEnhanced Understanding & Language Development\r\nVisual aids break down complex or abstract concepts into simple, understandable elements. This helps all students—especially those with communication delays or emerging language skills—grasp meaning more effectively and build vocabulary in context.\r\nMemory and Recall\r\nDurable, repeated-use visuals serve as consistent cues that reinforce memory. Children are better able to recall routines, instructions, and content when supported by engaging, clearly displayed visuals.\r\nIncreased Engagement\r\nPreschoolers are naturally drawn to colorful, hands-on materials. Interactive visuals capture attention, maintain focus, and encourage active participation in learning activities.\r\nInclusion of All Learners\r\nVisual supports create a more inclusive environment where children with varying abilities can access the curriculum equally. They level the playing field for students with disabilities, language barriers, or developmental delays.\r\nFostering Independence\r\nVisual cues for routines, schedules, and expectations help young learners take initiative and navigate their day with greater autonomy—building confidence and essential life skills.\r\nSustained Impact\r\nThe materials requested will result in reusable teaching tools that can benefit not just current students, but many future classes as well, maximizing the longevity and scalability of the project's benefits.\r\n\r\nIn summary, this project transforms a classroom into a more inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment where every child can thrive. It supports the teacher's mission to make learning accessible, meaningful, and joyful for all preschoolers, regardless of their individual needs.","fullyFundedDate":1747147764742,"projectUrl":"project/preschool-special-education-teacher-must/9347854/","projectTitle":"Preschool Special Education Teacher Must-Haves","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. McCone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2197197_orig.jpg?crop=1742,1742,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747003653781","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-mccone"},{"teacherId":8499566,"projectId":8596644,"letterContent":"My students and I are so appreciative of these new materials that helped our school year begin so well. We even mixed a few colors of playdough together! \r\n\r\nOur district started using Creative Curriculum this year for our preschool classrooms and we have been using the large Sticky Easel Pads for our new learning, but also adding it to our art easel for extra creativity to go along with our new Studies. We've been busy learning how to write our names with the dry erase markers and the golf pencils which help with using a correct pencil grip! \r\n\r\nBirthdays are more fun at school because I can give my students birthday stickers!
