They removed the old fabric and foam, removing staples with pliers, then measured, cut, and stapled the materials to create beautiful new benches. In this way, they took ownership of the seating which will be part of the school building for years to come. Students are proud of their work, as I am proud of their collaborative efforts, and look forward to using them throughout the school year. When the students first saw the new calculators, they were thrilled. Previously, we only had 10 calculators to share among up to 25 students, which meant a lot of waiting and taking turns. Now, each student can work independently, which has made a big difference in their ability to stay focused and engaged. Having their own calculator means they can dive into learning without the frustration of delays, especially as we tackle more advanced topics in our curriculum.\r\n\r\nThese calculators are an ideal bridge between the basic models students have used in earlier grades and the graphing calculators they'll encounter in high school. They're learning to apply new functions, like calculating specific roots and working with exponents, that directly support 8th grade standards. The two-line display helps students track their thinking and catch mistakes, which they have told me makes them feel more confident solving complex problems. Students also enjoy the memory of the calculator, which allows them to recall previous calculations and edit them as needed. This project has done more than provide a tool—it has given students the ability to take ownership of their learning, build confidence, and prepare for the next step in their academic journey. The moment I say, \"You can use the whiteboards,\" my students are up and moving; grabbing boards, finding space, and jumping into the task. It's such a refreshing change to see how quickly and confidently they dive into solving problems. There's no hesitation, no fear of being wrong; just genuine engagement and a willingness to think through challenges.\r\n\r\nThe vertical whiteboards have become a hub for collaboration. Students gather around them in small groups, bouncing ideas off each other, revising their work, and learning together. I've even caught students continuing to work on problems during transitions, completely immersed in their thinking and their teamwork.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboard math grids have also been incredibly helpful. They give my students a clear, visual way to organize their thoughts and break down complex problems. I've noticed more thoughtful problem-solving, clearer explanations, and best of all, more confidence.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these tools have helped shift the culture of our classroom. Students feel safe to take risks, support each other, and celebrate growth. That's something I can't thank you enough for.\r\n\r\nYour kindness has made a lasting impact, not just on our lessons, but on how my students see themselves as learners.
